It’s been about 2 years since I had rhinoplasty, and when it had been 1 year, I hit my nose once. At first it wasn’t to that extent, but now it has bent like that.. I went to the hospital where I had surgery and asked, and they said that as the nasal septum bent, the columellar cartilage may have broken or may have kinked, but since it doesn’t show on CT, they won’t know until they open it up. And to make it stand up again, they would need to use ear cartilage and donated costal cartilage, and the cost would be about 2 million won. Since they said that, I really didn’t want to use donated costal cartilage, so I asked if it would be possible with only ear cartilage, and they said it would be possible, but I felt anxious. There was an ENT clinic in my neighborhood that does both rhinitis surgery and rhinoplasty, so I went for a consultation and also had a CT scan. They said there was nothing wrong with the bone, and since they weren’t the one who operated, it might not be exact, but in their view, it seemed like it would be enough to open the nose and slightly trim only the protruding part. They said it didn’t seem necessary to build it up with cartilage, but to know that in detail too, they would have to open it up.
Both doctors said that when looking from the front, they really can’t tell, and surgery would only be if it bothers me too much and I keep noticing it, but they don’t really see much necessity. People around me also say the same.. It only looks noticeable like that when viewed from below, but honestly I’m so bothered by it
If it were everyone else, do you think you would redo it..? And would you do it at the original hospital, or at the neighborhood ENT clinic..? Ha.. I’m wondering if I should go to other hospitals too
