-Original nose: just a completely low nose with no nasal bridge at all -First surgery: done 10 years ago with ear cartilage + silicone. I was happy to have a nasal bridge, but it was definitely not a high and pretty nose, just about average. The nasal tip was still blunt and bulbous. On top of that, the silicone had been inserted slightly crooked, and there was an issue where the starting point of the silicone showed through. -Revision: revision surgery using costal cartilage. The crooked silicone and show-through improved. The problem is that the nasal tip got a little higher, but it is still blunt, and the bridge was not raised at all. (= exactly the same as after the first surgery)
The biggest issue with my previous nose was the blunt nasal tip, and personally, because I have a face with a sunken midface, I wanted the nasal bridge to be a bit higher too. (For reference, I went to more than 10 plastic surgery consultations, and regarding the nasal bridge, the doctors were almost split about 6:4. Need to raise the bridge too 6 vs it is not bad now 4)
I am now 2 weeks after the revision, so I do not have any functional problems yet. Other than it being stiff because costal cartilage was used, there are no signs of inflammation at all, and it was septal extension surgery, but breathing is comfortable for me. As for the bulbous nose correction too... I honestly cannot tell at all right now (), but I do think it could become a bit slimmer once more swelling goes down.
But... I hoped I would become a little prettier in a more dimensional way through the revision, yet the nasal bridge height is exactly the same as after the first surgery. The nasal tip is disappointing too... It is good that the drawbacks of the crooked silicone and show-through are gone, but those were not such severe drawbacks... The reason I decided on revision rhinoplasty was, anyway, because I wanted it higher and lay down on the operating table for that, but it only became stiff, and the overall dimensionality feels way too identical to before
The nasal tip did get a bit higher, but it is still too blunt... and if it comes down more as the swelling subsides, I feel like there will be even less of a big difference from before
My personal wish is to have the bridge silicone raised a bit more as aftercare/revision, and have more bulbous nose correction done on the nasal tip.
But... the nose is such a complication-prone area, and the reason I lived with it for 10 years after the first surgery was also because I was satisfied that the surgery had been done safely.
I am really worried that if I open it up too often for no reason, I might have trouble breathing or get inflammation or complications... At the same time, I still feel disappointed...
In this kind of case, do you think you would get a third surgery? Or should I just be moderately satisfied and stop looking in the mirror....
