<Whether depressed scars form or not depends on the surgical method><Depressed scar>My line is too high, so I’m trying to get revision surgery to lower it. I went to consultations at 2 hospitals that are good at lowering the line, and they said I don’t have enough extra skin, so I’d need the two-line technique.
The hospital I wanted to visit the most was ㅇㄴㅋ, but the schedule got delayed so I haven’t gone yet. I’m still only looking at review photos, but when I see the scars in the reviews, I hesitate. When I see reviews where the scars are really minimal and flat for an incision surgery, I’m drawn to it, but there are also cases with severe depressed scars...
There are two types of double eyelid surgery scars, right? There are cases where, when the eyes are fully closed, the double eyelid loosens and only a slight mark is visible (dynamic double eyelid), and cases where even when the eyes are closed, the double eyelid doesn’t disappear and stays folded as it is. People call that folded scar, depressed scar, pinched scar, or sunken scar, right? (They call it a static double eyelid and say it’s an outdated surgical method.)
But they say whether a depressed scar remains or not depends on the surgeon’s skill. Then if it’s a skilled surgeon, shouldn’t the surgery be done well so that no depressed scar remains? Even though the surgery was clearly done by the same director, why does one person turn out naturally without a folded scar, while another has a folded scar running across like it was drawn with a knife? Since it’s the same doctor, wouldn’t they have used the same method?
If it were that in the past they lacked skill and left depressed scars, but now their skill improved and they developed a method that doesn’t leave scars, I could understand. But when I look at the surgery dates in the reviews I saw, that’s not it either. It’s like they leave a depressed scar, then don’t leave one, then leave one again.
Is individual skin tendency really that influential? Enough for even a highly skilled surgeon to leave a clearly visible scar?
It doesn’t seem to be only with the two-line technique either. It seems the same for regular incisional cases too.
My first surgery was incisional, and now that 3 years have passed, I have relatively little scarring for an incision. So I do think scars usually fade a lot for me, but I’m worried about how the new scar will form. I’m scared I’ll get a depressed scar...
