This is my 2-month post-op review.
I had incisional ptosis correction and posterior-lower canthoplasty.
Current satisfaction with the surgical result: 7 out of 10 (1 month) -> 8 out of 10 (2 months)
* Satisfying points 1-month review) First of all, I’m highly satisfied that my eyes got bigger. They definitely became larger than before, and my eye-opening strength improved. I’m also very satisfied with the eye shape. If you compare it with before surgery, you’ll see it became very pretty. I’m especially very satisfied with the posterior-lower canthoplasty line. I worried a lot about whether to do it because of the cost and side effects, but I think it was good that I did. Above all, it seems like it will settle naturally, so I’m looking forward to when all the swelling goes down.
2-month review) The satisfaction I had at 1 month is the same, and it has become more natural. So originally my satisfaction was 7, but I raised it to 8.
* Unsatisfying points 1-month review) My satisfaction dropped a little because of unexpected wrinkles between the brows after surgery and asymmetrical eyes. Also, the swelling has not fully gone down yet, so I don’t know what shape it will settle into. I debated between 8 and 7 and rated it 7. I do feel some anxiety, like will the swelling really go down? Will it be okay once the swelling goes down? Will the posterior-lower canthoplasty line really be corrected?
2-month review) The wrinkles between the brows have become more natural than before. I don’t know if the swelling will go down more from here, but it has become more natural than before. I still worry about the asymmetrical eyes. Other people say it looks fine, but from my perspective it keeps bothering me. Also, around the time I passed 6 weeks, I felt a snap! sound and pain from my eye, and it feels like the eye shape changed slightly. In photos I don’t feel a big difference, but it keeps bothering me every time I look. I plan to ask again at the hospital visit at 3 months. There is still scar tissue at the outer corner of the eye. I got an injection at 1 month and it improved a little, but there is still enough scar tissue that it bothers me.
* Detailed explanation to prevent misunderstandings 1. The wrinkles between the brows refer to wrinkles that form when I open my eyes wide, along the double-eyelid line between the epicanthal fold and the eyelid area. They said it can’t be helped depending on the person’s eyes. It is not a problem with the surgery, but my satisfaction dropped a little because it was an unexpected wrinkle. 2-month review) -> There are still wrinkles between the brows, but they have become more natural, so they no longer bother me. 2. In the case of asymmetrical eyes, first it is because of the double-eyelid line, and second because of the posterior-lower canthoplasty shape. My satisfaction is currently a little lower, but because the asymmetry is improving compared with the beginning, I think my satisfaction will go up after more time passes. They said the double-eyelid lines will have almost no difference once the swelling goes down, and I also think it will improve. But I am worried whether the swelling will really go down. For the lowering canthoplasty shape, the left eye is a bit smaller. They say it is an issue with the facial skeleton, but in my opinion I wonder if there is a difference in the lowering canthoplasty line itself. Still, they say we need to wait and watch. Also, if the difference is too large, they said correction is possible at the 3-month follow-up, so I’m not too worried. 2-month review) -> I still feel it, so I plan to ask at the 3-month visit.
3. When I say I’m dissatisfied, I mean dissatisfaction with the current state or situation, not dissatisfaction with the hospital or the surgery. 2-month review) -> I’m more satisfied than I was at 1 month.
4. About the snap sound from the outer corner of the eye 2-month review) When I asked the hospital by message, I only received replies saying that can happen and that there is no issue if there is no shape change. Personally, it has reached the point where it bothers me every time I look in the mirror, but in photos or to other people, it is not that noticeable.
* Recommend vs do not recommend If I were asked to recommend it to an acquaintance, I would want to recommend it. First of all, the director is kind, and if you have a consultation, you will know, but you get the sense of expertise while also feeling that he will sufficiently reflect your requests. It actually proceeded that way too. I have not had surgery elsewhere, but in many cases the usual style was either strongly recommending their own surgical method or saying they could do whatever I asked without sufficient explanation of the surgical method. No matter what I asked, he answered kindly, and it may just be my feeling, but the director appropriately reflected both the surgical method he recommended and my requests. Also, he gave me trust until the end so I could go into surgery with confidence and peace of mind, and he designed the plan carefully. I chose this hospital after visiting more than 10 places, and I do not regret my choice.
* Additional note just in case For people who are sensitive to the hospital’s visible facilities or consultation tone, I would recommend it a little cautiously. The waiting room and consultation room have a very clean-feeling interior, but the inner surgery waiting room and operating room comparatively do not have that feel. It feels relatively less cared for. (Very subjective) Also, the consultant’s professionalism can feel somewhat cold. Of course, she is sufficiently kind and responds fully with no issue in terms of content. But how should I put it, when I’m curious about something and want to say what I want to say, rather than feeling like she listens, it feels like hitting an iron wall? But that is just the feeling, and if you look only at the content, there is nothing problematic at all. So for people who are sensitive and particular about each small thing like this, I would recommend it a bit cautiously. The overall atmosphere of the hospital is cold kindness? That kind of atmosphere.
* Summary 7 out of 10 (1 month) -> 8 out of 10 (2 months) Satisfied with hospital choice and surgical result Getting posterior-lower canthoplasty was a very good choice There are currently unsatisfying parts, but more time is needed (At first) Satisfaction of 7 = “Overall I’m satisfied, but a bit anxious” (Now) Satisfaction of 8 = “Overall satisfied that I had the surgery, but still anxious and there are parts I’m dissatisfied with.” If an acquaintance were getting surgery, I would highly recommend it For people sensitive to small things, I would recommend it cautiously
