Review after visiting five clinics for under-eye fat repositioning

I am a 1991-born woman who has had prominent under-eye fat since childhood... Fifteen years ago, as a university student, I first learned from a photo of Narsha that surgery could improve the under-eye area. I also felt strongly tempted after seeing Jeon Hyun-moo, but surgery was scary and I had no money, so I simply lived with it. This year, seeing Lee Young-ji's surgery brought the urge back. I had also just quit my long-term job, giving me time and a lump sum, so I decided it was my chance and began seriously researching surgery. In late August, I searched this community, the Naver Yeouya cafe, and related apps intensely for a short time, and watched more than 300 related YouTube videos before narrowing down clinics and surgeons: [Clinic A] [Doctor A], [Clinic B] [Doctor B], [Clinic C] [Doctor B], [Clinic D] [Doctor C], [Clinic E] [Doctor D], and [Clinic F] [Doctor E]. I was most drawn to [Clinic A] [Doctor A], but when I called on Monday, September 7, I was told consultations were booked far ahead and available only after March next year, so I gave up... (consultation fee: 30,000 won). I then called [Clinic B] and was told Tuesday, September 29, after the Chuseok holiday was available, so I booked 10:30. Since I live in a very rural area of Jeonnam and cannot travel to Seoul repeatedly, I wanted to schedule the other clinics around that appointment. [Clinic B] was near Samseong Station, [Clinic F] between Apgujeong Rodeo and Gangnam-gu Office stations, and [Clinic C], [Clinic D], and [Clinic E] near Sinsa Station. Fortunately, I booked [Clinic C] at 1:00 p.m., [Clinic D] at 2:30, and [Clinic E] at 4:30 on Monday the 28th, and [Clinic F] at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 29th, making it possible with just one night in Seoul. I typed and printed a question list and clipped it neatly to a clipboard—18 questions, no less, lol! My biggest question was whether I could have under-eye fat repositioning now, since I had already lost nearly 20 kg with Mounjaro and planned to lose at least 15 kg more. I also asked about whether fat grafting was needed, anesthesia, which layer the fat would be repositioned into and whether fixation would be to the periosteum or soft tissue, the number of postoperative visits, cost, and whether my desired surgery date, Monday October 19, was possible. I recorded everything in visit order.

* [Clinic C] Plastic Surgery — [Doctor B] The number of January–March reviews on Yeouya was relatively high, and I chose this doctor after watching more than 20 videos on the YouTube channel. The doctor performs many under-eye fat procedures, but the main specialty is rhinoplasty. Fat grafting was also recommended, but after hearing that I planned to lose at least 15 kg, the doctor said it might be fine to do it later, after weight loss, to suit my face then. IV sedation was planned, with an estimated surgery time of about 30 minutes. A follow-up was scheduled two weeks after surgery. Monday the 19th was unavailable; the first slot on Tuesday the 20th was possible. I paid a 10,000-won consultation fee.

* [Clinic D] Plastic Surgery — [Doctor C] I chose this doctor after watching more than 130 videos on the YouTube channel. There were very few reviews in this community or Yeouya, but I had watched so many videos that I really wanted to meet the doctor. The doctor said they had more than 20 years of experience, performed no other procedures, and specialized exclusively in the under-eye area. Fat grafting was said to be necessary, but after hearing about my weight-loss plan, the doctor said it would also be fine to do it separately later. IV sedation was planned, with about one hour of surgery, followed by a checkup one month later. The first slot on Monday the 19th was available. I had paid 10,000 won in advance as a no-show prevention deposit, but it was refunded on Friday after the consultation, so the consultation was effectively free.

* [Clinic E] Plastic Surgery — [Doctor D] This clinic was overwhelmingly number one in review count on the community and Yeouya! Between [Doctor F] and [Doctor D], I somehow felt more drawn to the female doctor, so I requested [Doctor D]. This was the only doctor who said fat grafting might not be necessary. It was impressive that the doctor looked at my question list with me and answered each question one by one. IV sedation was planned, with a surgery time of one to one and a half hours, and follow-ups at one week and two months. Surgery on Monday the 19th was possible. The special condition was an event price in exchange for permission to use before-and-after photos and writing three reviews each in three places, nine reviews total. (That is when I realized why there were so many reviews...) I paid a 10,000-won consultation fee.

* [Clinic B] Plastic Surgery — [Doctor B] There were not many reviews, but I had seen comments saying it seemed trustworthy and did not over-treat. I chose the clinic after watching nearly 50 videos on its YouTube channel and feeling that the doctor explained things more professionally and clearly than other doctors. Fat grafting was recommended, but the doctor said that while losing weight, the fat survival rate would inevitably be lower, so it would be better later. The doctor explained things extremely thoroughly while drawing diagrams on paper with a three-color pen. This was the only clinic that said the procedure would be done under local anesthesia alone, without IV sedation; surgery would take about one hour, and Monday the 19th was available. During my consultation with the coordinator, I was told they would make it last securely for 15 years and, unlike other clinics, provide free follow-up care for two to three years. They would manage swelling, pigmentation, blood vessels, elasticity, and so on with lasers and similar treatments. Accordingly, I would return one month after surgery, three months later, and several more times at intervals depending on my condition for follow-ups and aftercare. The price was exceptionally high, enough to feel that all of this was included. If I booked surgery immediately that day, the consultation fee would be waived; I said I would think about it and paid 10,000 won.

* [Clinic F] Plastic Surgery — [Doctor E] I chose this clinic after watching more than 30 videos on its YouTube channel and gaining confidence in it. Fat grafting was also recommended, but the doctor said that if I planned to lose weight, it might be better to do it later because of the fat-survival issue. The doctor reviewed my questionnaire and answered each item. IV sedation was planned, taking 30–40 minutes, with a checkup recommended one week later; if visiting was difficult, photo-based follow-up was possible. Surgery on Monday the 19th was available. I was offered an event price in exchange for permission to use photos and writing three to five reviews. There was no separate consultation fee. Comparing prices at the five clinics, the rough order felt like [Clinic F] < [Clinic D] < [Clinic E] < [Clinic C] <<< [Clinic B]. I have chosen one clinic, booked surgery, and am waiting for next Monday, but I am so nervous... Please let me get a satisfying result without insufficient correction or complications..!!
