It has been two weeks since my forehead lift using the Bon tunneling technique on September 23! I tended to use my forehead muscles a lot when opening my eyes, and my biggest concern was that my thick upper-eyelid skin made my existing double-eyelid crease barely visible. I considered simply recreating the crease, but I thought that making a new crease on thick eyelids might cause it to become covered again over time or fail to produce the desired shape, so I wanted to address the underlying cause as well. In fact, a forehead lift can be considered not only for age-related sagging in middle age, but also for younger patients who use the frontalis muscle compensatorily or have thick upper eyelids that limit double-eyelid exposure. I compared surgical methods and fixation techniques at several clinics before deciding. I especially looked into the differences between Endotine and Bon tunneling, the dissection range and fixation strength, and the possibility of long-term maintenance. During consultations, I placed importance on how they assessed the structures of my eyes and forehead. Ultimately, I decided to have surgery with Dr. Park Chan-young at XO Plastic Surgery and chose a Bon tunneling forehead lift. My goal was not simply to raise the eyebrows high, but to appropriately reposition the forehead and brow tissues, reduce the effort needed to open my eyes, preserve my existing facial impression, and allow the double-eyelid crease to show naturally.
Day of surgery I was nervous on the day of surgery, but because I had received a thorough explanation during the consultation, I felt relatively comfortable. Immediately afterward, my forehead and scalp felt tight and swelling gradually developed, but it was more bearable than expected. Since raising the eyebrows significantly was not the goal, I focused more on recovery than on the initial height or shape. I rested as much as possible that day and slept with my head and upper body slightly elevated to prevent severe swelling.
One week after surgery Over the first week, I could feel the swelling and tightness around my forehead and eyes gradually changing. The eyebrows and forehead initially felt unfamiliar, but they gradually seemed to settle more naturally with time. Most importantly, I looked forward to the reduction in the previous heavy feeling of my eyelids. Since swelling remains, I think it is still too early to judge the final result. I am avoiding overexertion, following the clinic's precautions, and watching my recovery.
Two weeks after surgery After two weeks, I am satisfied with the overall result. My main goal was to reduce the heaviness of my eyelids and make the double-eyelid crease appear naturally, but as recovery progressed, I felt that not only my eyes but also the proportions and impression of my entire face had become more natural and defined. I especially like that the area around my eyes looks more open and that my facial balance has improved. The bruising and swelling have subsided considerably, and with light makeup it is barely possible to tell that I had surgery. At present, I have little difficulty in daily life, and I feel that only the recovery of sensation in the forehead and scalp remains. I look forward to it settling even more naturally with time.
