Recently, I had medial epicanthoplasty restoration, and since I was going in for a follow-up anyway, and because it was after Chuseok so consultation appointments weren’t hard to book, I also went to other clinics while I was at it for eye revision surgery consultations..

I just wondered if I had chosen the wrong director, but they didn’t seem very interested in identifying the patient’s problems, so they couldn’t understand the patient’s needs, and it was a consultation where communication didn’t work. The consultant working under that kind of director also started by intimidating me, saying there was no surgical method itself aimed at the kind of improvement I wanted. Then I consulted with the director, and what I wanted was improvement of a deep double-eyelid line caused by strong fixation from ptosis correction + improvement of the distorted starting line of the double eyelid after medial epicanthoplasty restoration. But they said not only does such a surgery not exist, they don’t know how to do it, so there was nothing they could help with. It’s fine if they can’t do it or if it’s not possible, but I felt there was a lack of courtesy in the conversation. When I closed my eyes and showed the issue with the starting line of the double eyelid, they suddenly asked the consultant, while closing their own eyes, whether there were wrinkles in the front or not~ It wasn’t even a question to me, and with me sitting right in front of them, I wondered if they were mocking me. So I had to frustratingly remind them that I wasn’t talking about natural wrinkles, but about a problem caused by surgery~ and ended the consultation.

When I first told them my concerns, I got to hear their assessment of the problems and the possibility of improvement. Maybe it stood out because it was the complete opposite of the previous consultation, but since it was a place I visited with expectations, I put down a deposit for now. But since there’s no way to know in advance how much improvement would be possible, I’m debating whether I can invest time and money again based only on blind expectations.. They said the deposit is refundable if I cancel the appointment, so I’m checking my schedule and thinking it over for now.. I’m not sure whether there was no consultation fee because I put down a deposit, or whether they originally don’t charge one.
