If you ask me something on my way home from work, I’ll answer! If you look at my posts or comments, you can probably guess the hospital, and I went to consultations at three places: ㅅㅅㅇ, ㅍㄹㅁ, and ㅊㅁ!
First surgery method) About 5-6 years ago, I had surgery at a hospital in Sinsa with 2-3 mm silicone, ear cartilage, and a non-open approach, and that hospital no longer exists now. They also said they would smooth a small dorsal hump.
Reason for removal) First, about 6-7 months after the first surgery, as the swelling went down, the alar cartilage at the tip of my nose started to protrude slightly, and other than that there were no major issues. Recovery was also fast.
Then, sometimes in daily life, the tip of my nose would turn red, and after 1-2 hours it would go back to normal. My skin has always flushed easily, so I thought that was just how I was. But over the last 2-3 months, the redness was the same, yet it lasted 4-5 hours or I felt warmth. There was no pain when I pressed on it. After that, maybe because I was paying attention to it, I also felt a pulling sensation a bit, so I went for consultations. The three places all said different things, though (infection, contracture, nothing, just thinning skin, etc.), but in any case they recommended total removal even though it was not an emergency, so I just picked one of them and had surgery right away haha. For reference, they said the alar cartilage at the tip of my nose had protruded because the ear cartilage had pushed my own cartilage.
Total removal method) I had to go to work, so I wanted a non-open procedure, and fortunately everyone except ㅅㅅㅇ suggested doing it non-open first. They removed the silicone and ear cartilage from the nasal tip, and repositioned the cartilage non-open. And they said the dorsal hump had not been reduced much and not to worry too much about that, but I’m honestly not sure about that part
Recovery after surgery) I didn’t have nasal packing, only a splint and tape. The splint was removed on Monday after Friday surgery, and while I was there for dressing changes, they also removed the dissolvable stitches on day 7. Days 1-3 - I had quite a bit of swelling. The swelling was worst between my eyebrows, but it wasn’t very visible because of the splint.. Days 4-5 - After the splint was removed, I was only wearing tape, and they said it was okay to wash my face, so I did. My nose still hurt a lot; even light contact hurt. The swelling was gradually going down, but the big swelling was still there~ After that - From day 6, most of the major swelling had gone down for me, and I also took off the tape and went around without it. On the day I went to have the stitches removed, they said the swelling had gone down a lot. And I think around day 8, it became easier to open my mouth. Of course, I haven’t opened it really wide yet haha
Whether I like it) It hasn’t been long yet, so I’m being careful, but for now I’m very satisfied. My family also says it barely looks noticeable, and since it’s between my old nose and my natural nose, it looks a bit better, maybe because some baby fat has gone down. Of course, I’ll have to see after more swelling goes down, but so far I’m completely satisfied. If there are any problems after 1-2 months, I’ll write another post then.
What I want to say) Don’t ever let complication reviews sway your decision..! At first I came here wanting to know everything, but the more I searched, the more I didn’t know where I should have the surgery. It’s good to avoid blacklisted hospitals and places with poor aesthetics, but don’t overdo it trying to find complications that may never even show up! It’s all just draining my emotions.. And please keep your comments public as much as possible!
