My vision was originally around 0.2 to 0.4, and I didn’t use glasses or contacts because they were uncomfortable. Since I lived without glasses, I felt uncomfortable when I went to places like the movie theater and forgot to bring them (I could still see if I squinted). I decided to have surgery because I felt like I was getting less information than other people in everyday life. I just went to the place a friend said they had used. As people who have had surgery know, you can’t just choose LASIK or LASEK because you want to; it depends on the condition of your eyes. In my case, my cornea was thick, so they said I could choose anything. They said the thickness would allow four more LASEK procedures. So without thinking, I went with the cheapest option and no extras haha,,, 1. Vision correction First, even after the surgery, I didn’t particularly feel like the world had become crystal clear... The hospital said it was because my original vision wasn’t that bad to begin with. When I see other friends who had vision correction surgery, they are moved that after waking up they can see the clock without glasses, but since I could already see that before, I didn’t feel much. I can see movie theater subtitles well, but a problem came up (described below). 2. Glare I got glare!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t have it before, so when I heard glare could get worse I didn’t think much of it, but now that I have something I didn’t have before, it feels weird!! There was an option to reduce glare when I had the surgery, and I wonder if I should have chosen that?? It’s not extremely severe, but at night the world looks sparkly. My friend has it worse, to the point that they couldn’t sit at tables with lights above them in cafes. 3. Dry eyes I already had dry eyes, so I was worried they’d get worse, but they’re the same. From people around me, it seems like only right after surgery does it get worse, and then it gets better over time. 4. Eye pain I intentionally chose LASEK instead of LASIK because it is better for outdoor activities. Just in case someone might hit my face later (?) However, even after surgery, if I touched my eyes, there was a stinging pain for up to two years! Friends who had surgery at the same hospital said theirs got better after one year, but mine lasted until two years, and by year three it wasn’t completely gone, but it had mostly improved. 5. An unexpected side effect! I don’t know what to call this, but movie subtitles are easy to read, right?? But when the screen changes rapidly in a movie, my eyes can’t follow well and it feels uncomfortable I never experienced this before, so I can’t really describe it. Maybe my eye function has dropped or something... It’s fine in daily life because there’s no problem. But I didn’t expect this part, so I thought, surgery is surgery after all... and regretted it a little haha I had surgery without thinking too much, but surgery is surgery, so please check for side effects carefully...^^ For any kind of surgery, I think it’s best to compare the benefits and risks carefully.

Because I was told that LASEK is safer and more conservative than LASIK, I chose LASEK. I also consulted at several hospitals, but the hospital I chose had this doctor's own 2 Day LASEK technique, which has the advantages of quick recovery
