Because of allergic rhinitis, I had severe dark circles and the under-eye fat was also noticeably bulging, which was a big stress for me. Rather than letting it sag more as I got older, I decided to have surgery while I was still in my 20s! On the day of surgery, I had one more consultation with the coordinator and the doctor to confirm the design and ask the questions I had. When I went into the operating room, they covered me with a blanket and played music, so I was much less nervous than I expected. I only remember the anesthetic going in, and when I opened my eyes again, I was already in the recovery room with an ice pack on. Time passed so quickly that I didn't even realize the surgery was over. Right after the surgery, there was almost no pain, and I only felt a slight pulling sensation under my eyes. I thought it would hurt a lot once the anesthesia wore off, but it was nothing like that at all! At home, I took the medication the hospital prescribed me properly and kept doing ice packs as instructed. The swelling was hardly noticeable on the day of surgery, but it gradually started to build up over time. The bridge of my nose, cheekbones, and the area around my eyes were especially swollen, and from day 3 I started to get a little yellow bruising as well. But neither the swelling nor the bruising was severe, and by around day 7 or 8, it had almost all gone down. The most uncomfortable part after the surgery was a slight pulling sensation under my eyes when lying down, and until about day 3, I had more eye discharge than usual when I woke up in the morning. I think this part can vary from person to person... I started washing my face after removing the tape on day 3, and I was careful not to get water in my eyes while cleansing. Overall, the pain and swelling were not as bad as I had worried, so I was able to return to daily life relatively quickly. Of course, recovery speed, swelling, and bruising can vary by person, but in my case, it was a smoother recovery process than I expected, haha.
