Hello. This is my first time leaving a review on this community. I am writing this because I thought it might help those who are deliberation about revision surgery a little, so I gathered my courage and wrote it.
After my first surgery, I developed inflammation. I underwent irrigation and antibiotic treatment for almost a month, but in the end I had to have the implant removed. After that, I had revision surgery at the same hospital, but a hematoma formed at the autologous costal cartilage harvest site, and over time even a keloid scar remained.
The problem was not just the scar. The tip of my nose looked lifted, the columella looked short, and the bridge also felt crooked. Repeated surgeries increased the amount of scar tissue, and as rhinitis symptoms, which I had not had before, became worse, I was suffering not only from appearance-related stress but also from functional discomfort. At first, I thought things would get better with time. I had heard many times that you should watch plastic surgery for at least about a year, and I waited believing that too.
But even as time passed, the worry did not go away easily. In the end, I started thinking about surgery again. While visiting several places for revision consultations, the phrase I heard most often was, "This is not an easy nose." Because of the repeated surgeries, there was a lot of scar tissue and my skin condition was not good either, so most places explained that it would be a difficult surgery. So honestly, I was much more worried than hopeful. Even while going to consultations, I kept thinking, "Can this nose really get better?"
This time, I thought that more important than simply making it higher was creating a structurally stable nose. Then I had a consultation with Director Kim Beomjun, and strangely, after leaving the consultation, I felt a little more at ease. Rather than just talking about raising the nose or shaping it, he first explained the structure of my nose and its current condition. He explained why these problems had happened, which areas needed to be reinforced, and how far improvement would be possible, even drawing diagrams, so it was really easy to understand.
During the consultation, it felt almost like listening to an explanation while looking at a blueprint. Instead of saying it would definitely work, he honestly told me the directions that were possible in my current condition and the limits as well, which actually made me trust him more. Seeing that, I naturally thought, "Ah, this is someone who is truly serious about nose structure." What surprised me most after surgery was the swelling and bruising. Since I had already had revision experience, I had prepared myself to some extent, but recovery was much easier than I expected. Of course, results vary from person to person, but compared with my previous surgeries, I think I was able to recover much more easily.
In the end, the parts that stressed me out the most improved a lot. The short columella that had looked lifted was corrected naturally, and the crooked-looking bridge and tip were also settled stably. In particular, they also refined the scar tissue that had built up from repeated surgeries, so my overall impression became much more natural. I was also grateful that they tried to reflect, as much as possible within my current condition, the direction I had mentioned during the consultation.
There was also a change I did not expect. The rhinitis symptoms that had been difficult after the previous surgery improved a lot. Before, I often felt uncomfortable because of nasal congestion, but now breathing is much easier. The improvement in appearance is great, but I am also really satisfied that the functional side got better.
Another memorable part was the aftercare after surgery. The kit they provided after the operation included not only sterile gauze and cotton swabs but also Steri-Strip, and for someone like me who had revision surgery, those careful details felt quite significant. I felt that they were paying attention not only to the surgery but also to the recovery process.
Honestly, I was under a lot of stress because of my nose. There were times I did not want to look in the mirror, and many times I took selfies and deleted them right away. So the process of deciding on this surgery was not easy either. But now, every time I look in the mirror, stress is no longer the first thing that comes to mind like before. Just the fact that the problems that had troubled me for a long time have improved so much is enough to make me feel satisfied and grateful.
In particular, the director felt very meticulous not only during the consultation but also every time I came in to check the progress after surgery. He did not just pass over small things; he checked and explained each one, which was a big reassurance for me as a revision patient.
