I had silicone on the bridge of my nose and donor rib cartilage at the tip three months ago, but I developed a very severe infection. Since I live in Australia, I was admitted to a public hospital here and they removed everything two days ago. They said there was also a lot of pus inside, and that it was all infected.
It doesn't seem like the surgery itself was done wrong, but it seems like the infection came from an external wound or from the silicone not being a good fit. I think I may need to do it again with autologous costal cartilage or my own material after 6-12 months. The person who did it said they would take responsibility, though.
Should I specifically go to a place that is especially good at reconstruction? I don't think a refund is likely. What should I do?
Another problem is that the local doctor said there is no structure left in my nose now, so it has become too weak and could collapse. They said that could also cause problems with nasal breathing, so they said I need reconstructive consultation about that part before revision rhinoplasty. But is that just the worst-case scenario they are giving me, or is it something that will definitely happen?
What do you think? Could I go back to the person who did it and leave it to them with different material? When the local doctor looked inside, they said the structural placement and what had been done surgically were excellent. They also said they did not see any problem with the surgery itself, such as infection. But they did say that considering the skin condition after the inflammation and several other factors, the difficulty would be somewhat high.
Please give me some advice. I am completely depressed. The fact that I have to endure this ugly nose for more than a year..
