I had nose surgery using ear cartilage at Goksaem Plastic Surgery. But the scar where the cartilage was taken out is noticeable, and my ear became quite deformed. (Please understand that I cannot show photos because it is an area that hurts me.) And after more than 6 months, when the swelling had mostly gone down, the shape improved a little, but the crooked nose that I had asked to be corrected before surgery did not improve at all. Because of the ear deformity and scar, I became so depressed that my daily life and dreams were ruined. I went to every ear-related hospital because of this and even had additional surgery, but it could not be reversed. The nose was the same, since the above-mentioned parts did not improve, so I had revision surgery at another hospital. But I did not want anything else; I asked the hospital for a refund. The hospital said they would ask an expert to judge it, and in the end I received no refund or compensation at all. That is the hospital's position: according to the objective judgment of an expert, they cannot do anything. (I am very curious about the director's personal intentions, but the hospital kept saying to leave it only to the expert assessment.) Later, after the swelling went down, I asked why the crooked nose seemed not to have improved at all, and they said it was an inherent asymmetry problem that could not be corrected, and that it seemed to be because the osteotomy had been done strangely before. Then why did they speak as if it would work at first? I did not pay almost 10 million won for expensive surgery just to hear this kind of thing. And I think that even though I had several consultations before surgery at this hospital, I was not given a detailed explanation about the scar and deformity. I have a lot of grounds to support this claim, but to put it briefly, if they had explained that this level of deformity and scarring could happen and shown examples, would a healthy person still have chosen surgery knowing that? The doctor said that a friend of his whom he operated on had even worse ear deformity than mine and said nothing, so my level was average or on the smaller side in terms of deformity. That made me feel like I was the strange one. It is my face, and if you have surgery, of course a person becomes sensitive, right? What does it have to do with me that his acquaintance had more severe deformity and said nothing, and how would I know whether that is true or not? Is that supposed to be comfort? More importantly, if the consent form says asymmetry is hard to correct and deformity can happen, does that mean they do not have to bear any responsibility or provide any compensation for the surgical result? Honestly, even if I got 100 million won, I do not think my heart would settle, and if I could fix it by spending 100 million won, I would want to do it again. Everyone, please make sure to check not only the surgery consent form but also the possible outcomes and exactly how they will take responsibility, so you do not end up like me. Decide carefully. No one will take responsibility, and your own life is on the line.
