I think lowering it by 1.8 cm was a good decision. My forehead used to be longer than average, but now it's average. And for about a day after surgery, my head hurt a lot, but from the next day it was fine. It's been about 5 months since my forehead reduction, and the scar has improved a lot. About a month after surgery, there was a noticeable red scar, but now it's much lighter, and some fine hair has grown back, so the surgery marks are barely noticeable. If you're worried that your forehead is too wide, I recommend getting the surgery.
