I had double eyelid surgery and medial canthoplasty in 2020. So I don’t remember the estimate, but it was more expensive than other hospitals. The doctor seems to have a strong opinion, so I think he tends to operate according to his own judgment rather than what the patient wants. During surgery, they woke me up once to check my eyes, and when I briefly woke up I heard Dr. Lee Sang-ho say, “You try the left side once.” I wondered if he was teaching a trainee during surgery, but since I was under anesthesia I thought maybe I had just heard nonsense, so I didn’t ask the hospital separately. I wanted only a small amount of inner corner widening, but he said then the eyes wouldn’t come out as 80-plus and that eyes need to show a lot of caruncle to be pretty, and he widened it too much. Even during the pre-op consultation, I asked for only a little inner corner widening, but as a side effect of it being overdone, I now get eye discharge often and developed dry eye. I like the double eyelids, but I’m thinking about looking into reconstruction for the inner corner.
