They talked at length about the side effects of silicone and the pros and cons of autologous dermis, then moved on to individual consultation. The director was very confident with 25 years of experience, and I felt like I could trust them with my final nose surgery. The plan was to open it up first, remove the silicone, and observe for a few days; if things improved, proceed with autologous dermis. If inflammation still occurred even after removal, then surgery would be done six months later. It was heartbreaking, but they said that in most cases, after six months the chance of needing surgery is low, so that at least made me feel a little better. But the office manager said I needed to have surgery quickly because the inflammation had already spread to the silicone (while this hospital and another hospital said that wasn't necessarily true, and that there could be various possibilities and you can't know until it's opened up), which made me uncomfortable. I had clearly been leaning toward having surgery here, but it made me wonder, is this really right..? Still, the surgery is done by the director..
