I went for a consultation about inner corner canthoplasty and double-eyelid surgery. In the end, they told me not to have surgery. They said that even if I did inner corner canthoplasty, because my skin is dark, the white scar would be very visible, and that I didn’t actually have that much inner-corner fold to begin with. I said my wide inner spacing was a complex, but in my case the eyes are small, so the spacing only looks wide; there isn’t actually much of a blocked inner-corner area. When I asked if there was anything else that could be done for the eyes, they said that after marking the line, a double eyelid wasn’t really necessary, and that they would have to remove a lot of the Mongolian fold, which would make the scar definitely very visible, so leaving it as it is would be best. Then they even said, “I don’t usually say things like this, but if you want your inner eye spacing to look narrower, you’d be better off wearing glasses,” and even recommended frames that would suit me lol Other clinics only mentioned that scars can form when talking about inner-corner canthoplasty scars and moved on, but here they evaluated it objectively from a layperson’s point of view rather than a doctor’s point of view, which made me trust them. Separate from being turned down for surgery, the doctor seemed very confident in their own skill and seemed to be doing things conscientiously. Honestly, when a doctor talks me out of it this strongly, my mind does waver. I think I need to think about it a lot more.
