The culprit that has led to 4 nose surgeries so far. A doctor who made a custom silicone implant by taking a plaster cast of my face and swore there would be no problem. The fabricated silicone had 3 or 4 holes made in it, and he said that once it was inserted into the nose, flesh would grow in through them, that it was a well-supported and safe method, Was he not a doctor? Did he not know about capsule formation??? After just one year, the silicone had shifted entirely, and it was obvious to anyone that the implant had gone in wrong. When I went back and told him my concerns, he acted like he didn't know me. Later, when I told him that another hospital had said making holes in silicone was not good, he showed me a line from some old, thick paper with exactly three sentences in it and said he was right. I didn't know then. I didn't know that not every doctor has skill, and that not every doctor has solid, accumulated ability. Looking back now, he was trying to prove his pitifully shallow skill with just a few lines from a paper. Even after seeing the silicone that had moved entirely to the left, he told me with great authority that I could just press it back in the opposite direction. That sharply cutting gaze, like frost, I still can't forget it even 20 years later. Sometimes I think back on it like trauma, but are you there living well?
