First, to recall what I discussed during the consultation This was my first canthoplasty surgery, but because I had previously had an incision-based lower canthoplasty, it was classified as a revision surgery (ㅠㅠ) Based on my eye structure, 2 to 2.4 mm was the maximum, but they said because I have protruding eyes and upturned outer corners, it should be effective The atmosphere made it easy to ask the consultant all sorts of questions (not uncomfortably overkind, but genuinely easy to talk to), and when I consulted with the doctor, he actively answered many questions. I had the chance to ask about all sorts of worries like dry eye and entropion, which made me feel more at ease. It wasn’t a case of just saying everything would be fine; they explained in detail that certain things can happen too, which personally helped resolve the questions and worries I had There weren’t too many people, so I also liked that the consultation didn’t feel rushed - Surgery~ I said I was doing it secretly while my husband was going abroad for 10 days on vacation, and the doctor seemed very concerned It absolutely couldn’t be obvious, but my husband is clueless and I had no worries at all And I really did succeed in getting the canthoplasty done behind my husband’s back Was it after surgery, or when I came in for follow-up, that the doctor emphasized how much effort they had put into making it not noticeable I think the stitching was really meticulous, and as advertised, it opened the corner sharply There’s no such thing as eyelashes being cut at the scar site. The eyelashes remained all the way to the outer corner of the eye, so anyone looking at it would have no idea it was a canthoplasty. They prescribed medicine because there was still a lot of pigmentation left I wanted it opened up to 2.4 mm, but they said 2 mm was the maximum Maybe they were conservative because they wanted to avoid any obvious cosmetic look, but only the doctor would know the answer My eyes were already asymmetric, so the left eye was already quite open, and the right eye was small, short, and had a very raised outer corner, but I could definitely feel the difference when that outer corner dropped. I didn’t really notice it for the first month. By the second month, I thought, ah, it really has come down - Post-op course It’s still not been 3 months yet, so I haven’t had the 3-month follow-up, but at the 1-month follow-up they prescribed medicine for pigmentation I asked about entropion, eye fat repositioning, and various other things It was kind of touching that they didn’t just end things once the surgery was over, but actively kept checking my post-op condition Surprisingly, there are many hospitals/doctors that don’t do that Now that I’m in my 30s, the area around my eyes is hollowing out If I have surgery, I want to come here. Out of personal curiosity, I also asked a lot about other surgeries besides the one I had, like entropion and fat repositioning, and the manager said they’d give me a small discount if I came back here for fat repositioning next time (that was what the manager said). If the doctor seems okay with it, I think it’s best to keep eye surgery with the same doctor If different people keep turning it inside out, revision surgery gets more expensive and more of a headache I also asked whether I could widen the outer corner even 1 mm more, but they said it wouldn’t have much effect Looks like my husband will have to go on another long vacation before I even get a chance to worry about it^^
