I had cheekbone surgery. First, the consultation review: Cons: It was more expensive than other hospitals. The wait time was extremely long. They only sent me in when I had basically forgotten about it. Pros: You gain an objective perspective on what your own face looks like. There’s a lot of debate about numerical analysis, but I think consultations like this, where they explain what kind of improvements you can expect from what kind of surgery based on objective evidence, are much better than doctors who operate purely on instinct. Everyone’s aesthetic standards are different, and in the end, the person who chooses the surgery is you. Whether your face is short or long, exactly which parts are long or short, what the asymmetry is like, what the three-dimensional balance is like, whether the surgery will have an effect or not, and so on, in the end I think the only way to maximize the results of plastic surgery is to study it yourself, think carefully for a long time according to your own aesthetic standards, and make the decision yourself. I’m not trying to belittle doctors, but rather than being passively swept along by the words of certain doctors, I think it’s much better to actively define the problem you want to solve and try to solve it through the doctor. The non-face-to-face consultation was a good guide for that. You know your own face best, after all. And in the end, you’re the one responsible for every decision. Post-op review: Cons: It hurt so much I thought I was going to die ㅠ Other people said it didn’t hurt, but I was in so much pain that I went to the ER about two days later…(Between the taxi fare and the ER bill, I spent about 500,000 won, so I basically ended up as someone who paid 6 million won for surgery) For a moment I seriously thought, what kind of luxury or glory was I chasing that I went and got cheekbone surgery...? I could only sigh. The swelling was so bad that my face was really puffed up, and I looked like someone who had eaten 30 hamburgers at once. I honestly never imagined I would swell up that much… Of course, I walked around a lot like I was doing a nationwide long-distance hike, so now, one week later, it has gone down quite a bit. The swelling was worst on day 2. Pros: The surgery worked well. It’s been about a week since surgery and I can already feel that the side cheekbones have gone down. I barely had any 45-degree cheekbone prominence to begin with and only had side cheekbones, so I confirmed in the non-face-to-face consultation that my cheekbones were relatively wide compared to the shape of my skull, considered several surgical methods, and decided by elimination. I’m satisfied. Quick cheekbone surgery simply didn’t align with my beliefs. (I didn’t want to test a face I’ll have for the rest of my life with a moment of convenience.) My 45-degree area was already flat, and if I had also removed bone there, I might have ended up with sagging cheeks. Also, among the hospitals that do bone removal, there wasn’t a single one whose consultation left me fully satisfied. Some looked like they would have too little effect, and at one hospital, even though the left cheekbone was clearly larger by the numbers, they said the right cheekbone was bigger so they’d reduce that more… (???). Most of them gave me a bad feeling, so in the end I entrusted myself to Dr. Baek. Of course I watched all the cheekbone surgery videos too, including the surgical methods and side effects, etc., and decided it was right for me. If I were to explain the stars: Kindness: They are kind. Not fake overly energetic, but warm and friendly. But if I gave 5 stars, it would feel like I was being paid to write this, so I’ll give 4 stars (sorry sorry) Consultation expertise: But both the non-face-to-face and in-person consultations were done after I had already decided on surgery, so the in-person consultation was just short and over quickly. I’m just writing based on the non-face-to-face consultation. Naturally, I think places that provide objective numerical analysis should get a higher score than hospitals that just spout opinions I didn’t ask for or explain things based on their own taste and guesswork, so I’m giving 5 stars. Staff kindness: They were kind, but for some reason if I gave everything 5 stars it would feel like I was being paid, so I just took off one star. Facility: Among all the private hospitals I’ve been to, it was quite good. But the waiting room was a little disappointing? Although if you include the CT and printer prices, it would be 5 stars… the waiting room was just a little disappointing. Expected surgery outcome: I’m satisfied, but the swelling still hasn’t fully gone down and it’s hard to make a final judgment, so I gave 4 stars. I could just write this later, but I might forget, so I’m writing it now. Conclusion: Please definitely get a non-face-to-face consultation, and I hope you think it through for a long time based on the video. For cheekbone surgery, the side cheekbones are reduced effectively and firmly without going overboard. I didn’t really have the 45-degree type to begin with, so I don’t know about that. Once more time passes, I’ll update the post with the progress.
