I had revision eye surgery 18 years ago on a sausage-like eye. It turned out very pretty. After the surgery there was absolutely no swelling or anything like that. My eyes were small, so I asked them to do a canthoplasty too, but they said there wasn't any space to widen at my eyes, so they only did the inner and outer corner revision and lowered the line. The result was very satisfying.
