(For reference, there was no discount at all tied to writing this review; I'm simply writing honestly because I want to express my gratitude to the doctor and I hope it can help patients in difficult situations like mine.) I am male, and I will write about my 10-year history with rhinoplasty. For the first surgery, I had silicone for the bridge and a septal extension using ear cartilage and septal cartilage at a famous private clinic in Apgujeong. For a few months after the surgery, the shape and function seemed reasonably fine. But as time went on, the tip gradually drooped into a parrot-beak shape, and I lived with persistent nasal obstruction that made it hard to breathe through my nose, along with subtle headaches.(Not a stabbing pain, but a dull, foggy kind of headache) At the time, I didn't know these were side effects of septal extension, so I kept taking rhinitis medication prescribed by the ENT clinic. While things were getting worse, around 3 years and 6 months after the first surgery, the tip swelled and the skin on the tip became necrotic. So the second surgery was done at a famous private clinic near Gangnam Station, using autologous dermis for the bridge and ear cartilage with septal extension for the tip. Strangely enough, the same pattern returned: the parrot-beak drooping of the tip, nasal obstruction, and subtle headaches. From that point on, around 2 years after the second surgery, I started wondering whether the root problem was rhinoplasty itself, and while looking for related information I happened to find Director Hwang Se-hwi's blog. After reading the posts thoroughly, I went for a consultation. Having already consulted at more than 20 places, my consultation with Director Hwang felt like a fresh shock. Up until then, every consultation with a doctor had lasted less than 10 minutes, and the only communication was one-way: 'Just trust me and follow me,' with no detailed explanation about the surgery. Director Hwang's consultation was two-way communication, where he explained in detail why functional problems and tip drooping happen, how those problems can be solved, and the aesthetic considerations as well. There was also no pressure to book on the day or pay in cash. Those points came across as strong trust, and I went ahead with the third surgery. Whenever I go back for follow-ups after the surgery, they always see me kindly and responsibly, just as before the operation. After the third surgery, the nasal obstruction and subtle headaches disappeared, and outwardly it also turned out much more refined than before. Even now, three years later, it blends naturally with the other parts of my face, and I am extremely satisfied. I came back to this community after a long time looking for information about hair transplants, and I felt it was only right to leave my thanks to Director Hwang here as well, so I wrote this review. I am truly grateful to Director Hwang, and I recommend that patients experiencing side effects, especially parrot-beak tip drooping, nasal obstruction, and headaches like mine, at least go for a consultation.
