Nose Surgery review at YeonseUP (연세UP) · 2022-09-07

I had surgery here and later had it removed at another clinic. It didn’t cause any functional problem, but in the end it wasn’t the design I wanted. In the pre-op consultation, they said, "Until the one-month mark, it may look more blunt than what you want, but don’t worry because the swelling will go down with time." But even before the stitches were removed, it had already become thinner than I wanted and looked slightly pinched. They explain things very briefly, and even in the consultation right before surgery, they just said, "We’ll do it with this kind of feeling~~," without mentioning what exact manipulations would be done, whether cartilage would be added or not, or how many millimeters they’d raise it. It seemed like they do surgery by tying the cartilage and, for each patient, trimming the alar cartilage and adding it back, but I only understood it as cartilage tying, and I didn’t know whether the alar-cartilage augmentation would apply to me too. Because the result was different from what I wanted, I requested revision or removal, but they said it had to be at least one month before they could know, and that since it was just dissatisfaction with the appearance, they wouldn’t do revision later either. In the end I went to another clinic and had it removed (removing the cartilage-tying and repositioning the cartilage). There was some time before the removal surgery, and in that period the swelling kept going down, so my nose looked more and more pinched day by day.... I decided to have it removed at another clinic, so I asked to understand my own surgical process properly, and they said: 'You only tied the cartilage, right?' - Yes, we tied the cartilage. 'Other people have the alar cartilage added to make it higher; did I have that too?' - You also had somewhat developed cartilage.. 'Did you cut the cartilage or anything?' - The cartilage.. we did slightly resect the thicker parts. (At this point I felt like they were being a bit unclear.. You said you only tied the cartilage, but every time I asked, the surgery seemed to have more and more steps added? ) I wanted to believe I was just mistaken, but at the removal surgery at the other clinic, they told me there had been cartilage added to my nose. I had thought I was getting only cartilage tying, but there had also been alar cartilage resection and augmentation of the nasal tip with alar cartilage... so of course the nose shape had to change completely. To be clear, this is not a post slandering or insulting the clinic. I’m just writing this review to say that when you consult, please make sure to ask about every single step in detail.. The staff are kind. It’s just that the surgical result didn’t suit me...
