I visited several places for consultations because of cheekbone nonunion. The surgeon looked at my CT and explained in detail what caused the previous surgery to fail and why my condition had become this way. They also covered exactly how surgery could improve it. The surgeon clearly seemed very experienced and highly specialized. They said they would reposition the bone and move it inward rather than shave down more bone, which could also shorten the midface, create a greater before-and-after difference, and improve asymmetry and separated bones together. I knew the proposed method was different from what I had expected, but after the consultation it was definitely different.... I had many questions and asked about all sorts of things, but everything I wondered about was resolved. Although the cost was high compared with the places I visited, this was the only place that made me want to have surgery because I felt it would produce the greatest effect.
