It has already been more than 10 years since I had zygoma reduction surgery. Back then there was not as much information as there is now, and I had the surgery simply because my cheekbones protruded too much and it stressed me out. To give the conclusion first, my cheekbones definitely became smaller. This is true from the front, and especially the side profile became much softer than before, so I definitely look less harsh and fierce. Even in photos, the feeling that my cheekbones stick out first has decreased a lot. That said, reducing the cheekbones does not automatically make your face into a perfectly pretty oval shape. I developed somewhat of a peanut-shaped face. This may also be affected by facial fat or my original face shape, but I do not think reducing only the cheekbones eliminates every drawback. Still, if asked whether I would go back and do it again, I think I would, and I tend to recommend it. I think it is a surgery with a clear change for people stressed by looking intense due to cheekbones or by having a face that looks wide from the side. Even now, more than 10 years later, I am satisfied that my cheekbones were reduced, and I am most satisfied that my overall facial contour became softer.
