At the hospital, they said my eyes had a deep Mongolian fold and a wide space between the eyebrows, so if I only had double eyelid surgery, my eyes might look even more closed in. They strongly recommended epicanthoplasty as essential. They said that if you do it together, the inner corner of the eye opens up cleanly and the in-out or semi-out line falls neatly. They also said that if you make it too wide, the red flesh (lacrimal caruncle) can show and make the eyes look harsh, so they would make it just 1 to 2 mm in a way that fits my eye proportions.
