I went for a consultation. The hospital has rather flashy interior decor. The staff did not feel very friendly; their low voices did not feel warm or kind. I had to wait a bit. The doctor’s consultation was also very calm. They took a CT scan to look inside, and since what I care about is function, I got a consultation and was told that I would need autologous costal cartilage harvest and reconstruction. I wanted to hear the method in more detail, but rather than the details, the doctor spoke in broad strokes.. So because of that, I hesitated somewhat about whether the functional improvement would really be certain. And the cost came out higher than I expected, probably because it is a revision surgery.. It somehow felt a little commercial, not like they were thinking from the patient’s point of view, worrying along with me, and suggesting a method, so I think I will have to think carefully about the surgery.
