I had a consultation for implant removal and revision surgery... I said I wanted revision because it felt artificial, but this time they are recommending autologous costal cartilage to someone who already used donor rib cartilage.. They also brought up removing the artificial materials, and even talked about AlloDerm and Medpor. haha... It felt like they weren't listening at all to why the patient wanted surgery. They barely looked at my pre-op photos and didn't pay close attention to the shape I wanted; they just talked about their own surgical method. And after the director left, the consultant only raised the price higher. At hospitals famous for revision, reconstruction, and removal, the highest price anyone quoted me was 500, but here they started at 1000.. I wasn't even a bad complication case.. lol They showed photos of a case where severe contracture had collapsed the nostril openings, as if to show confidence in their skill, but honestly... if they use those kinds of artificial materials, I felt like even if the shape looks better for now, complications will still come back, and I had no trust at all. I thought maybe someone having their first surgery or someone desperate because of severe complications might be tempted. Of course I chose another hospital.
