As soon as I went in, the staff who were sort of half-heartedly guiding me made me wonder if I had come at the end of their workday. They were extremely unfriendly, and there was no even the kind of perfunctory politeness you normally expect from a plastic surgery clinic. It felt like an unfriendly reception with no welcome at all. The CT scan was done, probably because the clinic is famous for functional nose surgery, and the consultation with the doctor was with a female doctor, who explained things carefully and in an easy-to-understand way. But because they are famous for functional nose surgery, they recommended functional nose surgery plus cosmetic nose surgery no matter what. Even though my deviated septum was not severe at all, they kept saying things like I must have had trouble breathing from a blocked nose all this time (I have never had trouble with nasal congestion in my life, and of course I do not have rhinitis), that I should have surgery, and that if I had actual insurance, 80 to 90 percent of the surgery cost would be covered, so they strongly pushed it. On top of that, they were not just recommending one type of functional nose surgery, but three different ones, and even though only one applied to me, they were acting as if I should do all three. I was really taken aback... It felt very bad, like they were pressuring me into unnecessary surgery under the excuse that the insurance would pay anyway and help with the cost.
