After having double eyelid surgery 15 years ago, I developed scars from the front canthoplasty and double eyelid incision, so after worrying a lot I decided to have revision surgery 5 years ago and visited JW Jungwon Plastic Surgery. I think I trusted them after seeing the promotional text on their website saying they were confident in revision surgery. I think I also accepted the high surgery cost as a kind of confidence at the time. Director Choi Hong-rim said that along with front canthoplasty restoration, since the double eyelid scar was severe I needed double eyelid revision surgery, since my eye-opening strength was weak I needed revision eye-opening correction, and if I restored the front canthoplasty the horizontal length would become shorter so I would also need outer canthoplasty surgery. Dr. Kim Yeon-jun was in charge of the outer canthoplasty. The first three surgeries hurt so much. Also, during the surgery the doctor spoke to me informally and in an ordering, domineering way, which made me fearful. With the scalpel in hand, cutting my skin, I could not properly object to that inappropriate attitude. It was the first time such a thing had happened, so I had to experience considerable humiliation. The surgery time was quite long. I think the operation took more than 3 hours. After the surgery, my eyes felt pulled, making it hard to look straight ahead, and the middle part of my eyes was lifted too much so my eyes became triangular. I mentioned that it was hard to look forward when I came back for the follow-up two weeks later, but I did not get an answer about it. And then I met the doctor who would do the outer canthoplasty right afterward for the first time. Without saying a word, he used a stick to tear at my eye once, said only, "Let's do the surgery," and left the consultation room. When I came to after the sleep anesthesia, the surgery was already over. I was shocked by how much my impression changed after the surgery. My eyes were pulled too tightly and the foreign-body sensation was severe. It was the same even after the stitches were removed. I later learned that non-dissolvable thread had been used to fix the surgical site. The positions of the outer canthoplasty on the left and right were different, and since it was not possible to have surgery immediately, the right side had to be revised 6 months later. As a result, the pain in my right eye became even worse. The surgical results were that the site where the front canthoplasty had been restored became deeply sunken in a hook shape, the double eyelid scar became even worse, the eye-opening correction was overcorrected so the line was unnatural, and even though the double eyelid surgery used an incision method, the right side came undone. After the outer canthoplasty, it became difficult to smile with my eyes, and the foreign-body sensation and burning pain at the surgical site remained. In the end, 3 years ago I spent a lot of money at another hospital to have revision surgery for the front canthoplasty restoration and closed the inner corners of my eyes again. Two years ago I had the fixation from the outer canthoplasty removed to improve the foreign-body sensation and pain. After the fixation removal, the symptoms improved somewhat, but the burning pain remained. After the surgery I explained the side effects many times to the two doctors and the consultation manager, but instead of suggesting ways to improve the problems, they repeatedly insisted that there was nothing wrong with the surgery and responded to me in an unfriendly manner, which hurt me a great deal. And now my dry eye has become severe. The overcorrected eye-opening correction caused severe pulling of my eyes, and because of that I developed headaches. I often suffer from a dull pain in my eyelids and pain at the outer canthoplasty site, and I often have trouble sleeping easily. Two years ago, while driving, I actually got into a traffic accident because of this eye discomfort while blinking, touching my eyes, and suffering. Because I kept touching my eyes due to pain, my vision in the right eye got much worse. I often worry whether I will go blind like this. Overall, I ended up with an unnatural appearance that lacks harmony, and I have difficulty with social life. The surgery I had at this hospital 5 years ago completely changed my life.
