I have chronic rhinitis, and while I was looking into rhinitis surgery, I heard that cosmetic surgery could be done together, so I mainly looked for places that could do functional rhinoplasty + cosmetic rhinoplasty together.
Cosmetically, my nasal tip was very bulbous, so I hoped it would be improved together while having functional nose surgery. I did not go to many consultations, and because of my limited stamina, I chose only two specialized places rather than factory-style hospitals, had consultations, and decided on the hospital.
As soon as the consultation started, the director accurately pointed out the parts I felt were complexes, and while showing me the CT, clearly explained the functional problems with my nose too.
- My pre-op photos are photos where nose filler was still remaining. Originally I barely had a nasal bridge, but because of the filler, even the pre-op photos make it look like I had somewhat of a bridge... My original nose did not have a high bridge, and the nasal tip was bulbous. I dissolved the filler and proceeded with surgery.
- For the functional nose part, I decided on surgery for deviated septum / inferior turbinate.
- Even on day 3, when swelling is said to peak after surgery, I barely swelled, had almost no swelling, and almost no pain. Honestly, I thought it was an exaggeration, but except for breathing being uncomfortable for a few days, it was really okay. Of course, swelling varies by person, so it must be different for everyone. I still have some residual swelling.
- Post-op aftercare. Nose shape after surgery. Kindness of the director and consultant. I am satisfied with everything. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the waiting time..? Since it is a one-director clinic and there are many patients, there was some waiting time every time I went.
- I received a 90% reimbursement for the functional nose cost. This will differ by insurance company, so you need to ask your insurance company before having functional nose surgery.
- During the first week after surgery, because I was recovering, my nose actually felt more stuffy than before, but from one week onward it improved rapidly. Because of rhinitis, I always had nasal congestion, but it feels more than 70% resolved. They said it will get even better from now on.
⭐Things to be careful about when receiving documents from the hospital for functional nose reimbursement
- If it is not inpatient surgery, compensation is only up to a limit of 250,000 won. You need to stay for at least 6 hours in one day to be eligible for reimbursement. Do not submit the documents right away just because the hospital gives them to you; make sure to check them carefully before submitting.
Since it was not just cosmetic rhinoplasty but involved an insurance company, I worried a lot, but the reimbursement went smoothly and the cosmetic side improved a lot too, so I am satisfied with the surgical result. I hope this helps even a little for those looking into functional rhinoplasty~
