I think it was good for exactly about 6 months after surgery. The satisfaction of feeling prettier was brief, and I kept living anxiously, wondering what kind of side effect might come. It's been over 10 years since the surgery, and since it's been so long, I guess side effects are slowly starting to appear. I went to the dentist and had a CT scan, and the fixation pins and screws were rolling around inside my face... When I had the surgery, I felt pretty for a short time, but as I gradually got older, I looked even older because of cheek sagging, and the foreign-body sensation just makes it uncomfortable. I'm in a situation where I have to have another surgery to remove the fixation pins, and I'm so scared. I really regret it... I guess I should have been really careful about surgery that shaves down bone. The important thing is that as you age, it looks even worse.... I hope everyone looks at life long-term, thinks about it one more time, and then decides.
