My nose was a bulbous nose with thick skin. I think I lived my whole life thinking about rhinoplasty. But even when I went around for consultations, they said bulbous nose improvement would be difficult because my skin was thick, and they kept adding things like osteotomy, autologous costal cartilage, surgeries and materials I didn’t want. So as the price got expensive, I was wondering if maybe I shouldn’t do it. Then an acquaintance of a friend said they had it done at Girin and that several people had recommended it, so I booked one last!! consultation.
The consultation went from the consultant -> the director. First, they took the necessary photos, and during the consultation with the consultant, she explained what kind of surgery is done for a bulbous nose and the materials used. During the consultation with the director, we looked overall at the surgery, materials, and design I would be getting, and as expected... it was a nose with bulbous nose + long nose + thick skin + no columella. He said that if he removed fat from the nasal tip and lifted the tip, the nasolabial angle would look nice and the bulbous nose would also improve. He also asked about osteotomy first and said I didn’t necessarily need it (this may differ depending on the image each person wants), and for materials, it wasn’t “you absolutely have to use this!!” He explained what each material would be like and gave me options, so I had the consultation without feeling pressured at all.
After a satisfying consultation, I decided to improve the bulbous nose + long nose + columella using silicone + ear cartilage + septal cartilage. Then I talked again with the consultant about the most important thing, the cost!! Even the cost was within a range I really liked, so I immediately put down a deposit and scheduled the preoperative test date. From then on, I think I was just excited. She answered all the questions I had until the very end, reassured me that the director had a good aesthetic sense, and even shared her own experience, so I was so grateful.
After surgery, the first day was the hardest. Honestly, I didn’t have any pain at all, but there was quite a bit of bleeding, so I think it’s good to have gauze prepared in addition to what the hospital gives you. When I first changed the gauze, there was something like a tube inside my nose... I was so shocked, but they said it was to prevent blood from pooling inside the nose and that it was okay if it came off naturally when changing the gauze. Don’t be surprised!! I ate well, took my medicine well, and was fine, but sleeping was really hard. Other than that, during recovery I had a runny nose, and the swelling of the mucous membrane on one side was going down slowly, so I had quite a bit of nasal congestion. I think it lasted until about the one-month mark. Whenever I got worried and contacted the hospital, they replied well, I also saw the director for checkups, and they responded well, so I felt at ease and thought, let’s just wait for the swelling to go down!!
It’s now around four months after surgery, and I’m so satisfied with the nose design. Because I had thick skin, I didn’t expect much, but as the nasal tip became thinner and lifted, my midface looked shorter too. On top of that, I used to have no shadow at the nasal tip, but now I do, so contouring is actually fun. As for the side profile, what more is there to say? The director designed the line considering everything from my forehead to my nose, so it’s so pretty. Honestly, many friends around me didn’t know I had surgery, but whenever they say it looks the best among the people they’ve seen and that it suits me so well, I feel proud and happy. They said the swelling around the nasal tip will go down more, so I’m thinking up to 6 months. Of course I’m satisfied even now, and I’m looking forward to it even more!!
