Review of Secondary Double-Eyelid Surgery With Buried Sutures + Ptosis Correction at a Plastic Surgery Clinic in Nonhyeon (3 Months Post-Op)

It’s been a little over 3 months since my surgery, and I still have some residual swelling at the moment. I originally had double eyelids, but my eyes looked indistinct, so about 10 years ago I had double-eyelid surgery with the buried suture method. But after about 8 years, triple overlapping creases started forming on my left eye, and the double eyelid on my right eye also started to look faint. I’m a working adult, so I just lived with it, but I couldn’t put up with it anymore, so I ended up having revision surgery early this year (January 9).

My line was unstable, and I tended to use a lot of forehead strength when opening my eyes, so I got recommendations for two places from acquaintances whose double eyelids had turned out well, and went for consultations at both. (The hospital where I had my original surgery had closed down....)

At the first hospital, they said I had little eyelid fat, so my eyes were prone to the crease loosening, and they recommended fat grafting + incisional surgery. Personally, that felt like too major of a surgery for me, so I only thought about it and didn’t go through with surgery there.

The second hospital was the plastic surgery clinic in Nonhyeon where I ended up having surgery.

When I had my consultation at this clinic, the director explained things very calmly and kindly, and also told me in detail about the condition of my eyes. In my case, since my eyes were prone to loosening, he said it would be better to do ptosis correction together rather than only the buried suture method. What stood out to me was that he said incision was not so much something he recommended, but almost close to contraindicated. He explained why in a way that made sense, so I trusted him, and that was what made me decide to have surgery there.

Right now, I still have a little residual swelling above the line, so I can’t say it looks completely natural yet, but I’m satisfied with the line itself. More than anything, opening my eyes has become much more comfortable. Before, I strongly felt like I was using my forehead muscles to open my eyes, but now they open naturally with eyelid strength, and that’s the part I’m most satisfied with. The heavy feeling in my eyes has also improved a lot.

I think it’ll look even more natural as more swelling goes down over time, so I’m really satisfied!
