I was often told that my eyes looked stuffy overall because the outer corners of my eyes seemed closed off. I debated a lot about whether to get lateral and lower canthoplasty, but I just wanted to get rid of that closed-off look, so I ended up having surgery at a clinic that does natural-looking results. During the consultation, they explained that if they opened up both the closed-looking area near the outer corners and the stuffy-looking lower part, my eyes would look more refreshed than they do now. After hearing that, I realized that was exactly the direction I wanted. At first after the eye-widening surgery, there was swelling, so some parts still felt awkward, but once the swelling went down, I could definitely see that the outer corners of my eyes looked more refined. Before surgery, my eyes looked horizontally short and stuffy. Now, after lateral and lower canthoplasty, the ends of my eyes open naturally and look wider. I work in filming, and I can feel the difference a bit when filming. Before, I had to extend my eyeliner a lot for my eyes to look defined, but now my eyes look very clear even without extending it much. Since the horizontal length of my eyes looks longer, I look pretty even with simple makeup haha If you have double eyelids like me but are only considering canthoplasty, I think getting a consultation for eye-widening surgery would be okay. I also worried a lot before deciding on lateral and lower canthoplasty, but now I really, really think I made the right choice.
