It’s already been about a month and a half since my revision revision rhinoplasty. Those who saw my previous posts will know, but I had flap surgery because of an underlying condition. So I was in a situation where I had to accept a certain degree of nasal scarring and asymmetry. To put it simply, you could say almost everything on my nose except the nostril wings had been excised. It was truly an “extreme nose among extreme noses,” but to start with the conclusion, I’m so satisfied with the result that I came to write a review.
Actually, I previously paid 12 million won for revision surgery at a hospital that was said to be famous for extreme noses. But after about 2 years, maybe inflammation developed in my nose, because there was an odor every time I breathed. I even developed contracture, to the point that the nasal retainer I usually wore would barely fit. For reference, because of my health, I don’t go anywhere near alcohol or cigarettes, so I was really upset that it ended up like this.

Thinking that this would truly be my last time, I searched everything from community reviews dating back to 2013 to the directors’ backgrounds. I made a list of places that were good with autologous costal cartilage and specialized in extreme noses, then narrowed it down to exactly three places.
At the first place I went for a consultation, they suggested surgery using autologous costal cartilage and autologous dermis. Since my case is so unusual, I said, “I’ll give up on correcting the asymmetry,” and the director smiled and said, “Everyone says that, but it can become much better than it is now.” That was the moment I was completely drawn in. The price was also cheaper than the place I had gone to before, and it was known for harvesting autologous costal cartilage without much pain, so I just canceled all my remaining hospital appointments and proceeded here right away.
The area where they harvested the autologous costal cartilage? I was honestly surprised because it hurt less than I expected. In other reviews, people say they barely survived it, but if I stayed still, there was almost no pain, and it was just a bit uncomfortable to lie on my side when sleeping? That was about it.
Because the skin on my nose was skin brought from another area through flap surgery, there wasn’t much laxity, so I never even dreamed of having a dramatic nose. I was just praying for the complications to go away. But the bridge of my nose became much higher in such a pretty way than I expected, so I’m extremely satisfied! I know that the nostril asymmetry caused by the skin incision is hard to correct perfectly in my case, so I don’t really care about it. I’m just so happy that my nose has come back to life.
Most of all, the columellar angle is a work of art, so every time I see my side profile, my confidence gets fully recharged.
For reference, before this surgery, I really went to a lot of consultations. Three places refused to operate on me. Most of the others also gave answers without confidence. For people who have truly difficult noses like mine, don’t give up! If you search online and go to consultations almost obsessively, eventually you’ll find a director who is exactly right for you.
