It feels like just yesterday that I was filtering out blacklisted hospitals, looking up cases of side effects, and losing sleep over it, but I finally finished my nose surgery safely and am leaving a 1-month survival review. My nasal bridge was low and anyone could tell I had a typical bulbous nose, so every time I looked in the mirror, I kept thinking I just wished my nose would look slimmer. But I also felt that a nose that obviously looked surgically done wouldn’t suit my facial features. I set my goal as what people commonly call a “natural yet refined” nose these days, and I really searched online and visited clinics so hard I narrowed my list down from large hospitals to clinics with a single director, and the place I finally chose among them was ID Hospital. When I went to consultations elsewhere, they subtly recommended additional procedures regardless of my needs. Director Kim Dae-hwa didn’t over-treat at all and explained things really objectively, so I think that actually made me trust him a lot. Instead of making it unconditionally high, he matched it to my facial proportions and placed a thin 3 mm silicone implant along the nasal bridge. For the blunt nasal tip, which was my biggest concern, he used septal cartilage and ear cartilage to make it defined and lifted. Honestly, from right after surgery until days 3-4, the cotton packing in my nose meant I had to breathe only through my mouth, and that was the most painful part. For me, I couldn’t sleep well, my whole face was extremely swollen, and bruising came up too, so every time I looked in the mirror, I wondered if it had really gone well and worried a lot Still, just as the hospital instructed, I diligently used cold compresses, slept sitting up, lived on pumpkin juice, and made sure to walk for 1 hour every evening. Walking really is the best for reducing swelling. At 1 week, I went to the hospital and had the packing removed, as well as the splint and stitches. When the splint came off, even though there was still plenty of swelling, I could see that my previously blunt tip had become slimmer and more defined, so that was my first emotional moment. They said the swelling around the glabella area would go down a bit slowly, so I waited without rushing, and after 2 weeks, the fine swelling started to go down clearly from top to bottom. Now I’m entering the 1-month mark, and most of the major swelling is almost gone. I hope my post can be at least a little helpful. I hope everyone keeps visiting consultations until the end and has a safe and successful surgery.
