Whew.... I really remember how hard the double jaw surgery and contouring surgery were... It’s just a major surgery that’s hard for anyone. I thought maybe I was in the less hard group, but it was still so hard So I was hesitant about removing the fixation plates.
But then I heard that if you don’t remove them, taking them out later becomes a bigger surgery They said bone can cover the plates, or inflammation can develop in the plates later. But I watched another YouTube video and it said there were no problems..? What do everyone here think about this? I’m also curious whether anyone here developed inflammation...
But when I counted my fixation plates, there were 14 of them... So I think the cost of removing them was about 3 times the usual price
Still, I felt relieved that I got them removed at the same place where I had the surgery.
Because I had so many plates, there was a higher chance that even one of them could get inflamed, and once the bones had already fused well, I thought it would be best to remove the plates that had finished doing their job at the right time. In the end, the plates are foreign bodies too, so if they’re removed well and without even a tiny problem, I think I’ll be able to live more comfortably.
And since there were so many plates, the awkward situation of having to explain them every time I get an X-ray disappears, and when taking X-rays of other necessary areas around the face, they say the plates can cause distortion.
No matter how I think about it, I felt like I had to remove them. And it was even better because this was exactly the time when I was taking a break.
But scary is still scary...
Sigh... until the surgery, I kept asking the director about everything, and I also worked a bit right before the surgery.
When I arrived, the waiting went on for a while, so I rested in the hospital room.
Finally I went into the operating room, and ah... so scary. PTSD, the operating room is scary as expected. What I was most scared of was that after anesthesia, the tube had irritated the vocal cord area and caused swelling,
and this time it was touched for another hour and a half I was honestly so worried...
When they gave me the anesthesia injection, this time I could really feel it coming in. And then I didn’t remember anything
I woke up because I was cold, and after it was over, I got an IV in the recovery room, and I also got the swelling-reducing drip that the director kindly included as a service.
3:30 surgery -> 5:00 recovery room -> 6:00 discharge
Actually, before surgery I hadn’t brought a bucket hat, hoodie, or mask, so I bought them, and it was really a relief because they covered me well. I moved by subway, and thankfully I transferred only once, so I kept sleeping.
And they said I could drink water starting at 8 p.m. after the surgery, so by the time I got home, boiled water, and wrote this community post, time passed really quickly... Meals after 11 p.m.? Huh I opened the porridge, but then I remembered... Right now I’m only drinking water 2 hours left
Before surgery, while buying porridge and soft foods, I saw milk porridge from Seoul Milk, so I bought both corn and nut flavors.
I heard I can even eat regular food!! That’s such a relief On Monday I have to go in at dawn for only 3 hours to open the store, and I think I’ll be able to recover well by then.
In the meantime, eat meals and make sure to take the medicine properly 3 times a day! I should also disinfect my mouth every 2 hours with the antiseptic solution they gave me.
They told me to brush with a children’s toothbrush, so I thought I’d listen carefully and recover quickly!! And I can shower too.
For now, I think I’ll have to walk around while using Baemin a few times lol
