9 years ago, I had incisional double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction.
I already had a thin double eyelid crease, had a lot of fat around my eyes, and my eyelid-opening strength was weak.
Functionally,
because my eyelid-opening strength was weak, even in daily life I sometimes felt tired when opening my eyes, but after the ptosis correction I was glad to be able to open my eyes comfortably.
Appearance-wise,
I also had the eye fat removed, and after the double eyelid surgery my crease became more distinct than my original one, so I was happy.
But maybe because I already had a natural double eyelid crease, one side had had two lines from the beginning, the original line and the incisional line, and the double eyelid did not neatly settle inward, so that line looked thick. On that side only, the eyelashes also drooped, the lashes were not lifted, and the mucous membrane was not visible.
So last year I had that one side re-pinned. Then on both sides the double eyelids tucked in nicely. I had been very worried about things like a seesaw effect if only one side was pinned again, but there was no problem at all.
Conclusion: I strongly recommend double eyelid surgery.
(I’m writing this now because I’m trying to figure out a side effect from rhinoplasty.)
