It’s been a little less than 3 years since my rhinoplasty, and I’d been living with no symptoms at all during that time. For my primary surgery, I had autologous costal cartilage + silicone Innovit. My original natural nose had the tip turned slightly to one side, I guess? (It wasn’t very noticeable) They said they would correct that during surgery. Right after surgery, both the bridge and columella were straight and looked good, but from around 1 year later, I gradually felt the direction of my nasal tip bending slightly toward the direction my natural nose had been crooked. But only I knew, and it wasn’t very noticeable, so I didn’t pay attention to it.
Starting a month ago, my nasal bridge has felt heavy, and inside my nose it feels like the bone is being tightened. Sometimes even the roof of my mouth connected to my nose feels pulled. Pulling in the columella, pain between the eyebrows --> sometimes it even feels like a headache. Sometimes I also feel a very slight heat sensation in my nose that only I can feel. For the first 2 weeks, I just brushed it off like, “Hm? Is it stress?” From week 3, I became sure that something had gone wrong lol
I thought on my own that it was an early sign of contracture caused by the silicone, you know? Like, if contracture has started, but because my primary surgery was done with autologous costal cartilage, maybe the lifting force and the autologous costal cartilage resisting it are causing this pain? I was guessing like that by myself and felt like I was going to lose my mind, so I just went to the place that did my surgery lol
The director who did my primary surgery tilted his head, then looked at the CT and said that if it were inflammation, the capsule around the silicone would have thickened and created space, but right now it’s well fixed, so he doesn’t think that’s it. When I said the nasal bridge looked slightly crooked, only then did he look and say that the silicone had shifted to the right on the nasal bridge, and that he would do revision surgery for me. When I asked what the cause was, he said it seems like it happened from using facial muscles in daily life and things like that... (I don’t fully buy it..)
I still suspect early contracture symptoms, and after going through these symptoms, I’ve also developed a psychological aversion to silicone, so if I do revision surgery, as the director recommended, I want to remove the silicone -> and use donated dermis for the nasal bridge.
Now, conclusion 1. Has anyone here experienced pressure and tightness in the nasal bridge and forehead like me, and was it early contracture?? Or, like the director said, can silicone migration alone cause this kind of discomfort and pain??
2. If I remove the silicone (the highest part is 4 mm) and have surgery with donated dermis, can I be aesthetically satisfied? My skin is somewhat thick and stretches well.
3. The director who did my primary surgery said he would do the revision, but it would still be better to visit other clinics and hear their opinions too, right?? Please recommend revision surgery clinics. Please do it in a private comment!! And if anyone has questions for me, please leave a private comment too
