Hi everyone! I got a lot of help from this community, so I brought a one-week review after one cheekbone contouring procedure + liposuction in 2 areas + deep cheek fat removal !!!!! ------------------------------ My face shape and concerns - 45-degree cheekbones were developed (I had no side cheekbones, so from the front my face was almost a straight line) - People said my lower face was on the small side, but I was born with a ton of cheek fat. When I smiled, it stuck out like frog cheeks. I think I spent a year just thinking about facial contouring and visited around 7 clinics.. People around me all said things like, "Your cheekbones make you look young and are charming," "If you shave them down, your face will sag right away," "You’ll become cucumber-shaped," "Just leave your face shape alone and fill in the hollow areas instead," etc. If there were 10 people, all 10 asked why I would do it. But? Whenever I took photos, my face looked wide and I hated that my face shape looked a bit uneven....... My eyes are also close to sunken eyes? so I wanted my eyes to look bigger. (If my eyes had been big, I probably wouldn’t have done it !!!) Since my cheekbones were not that large to begin with, I didn’t expect a dramatic effect, and my goal was to look like celebrities who suddenly become prettier. Even until the director was designing right before surgery, I wasn’t sure, so I debated until the very end whether to only do liposuction, but my mom gave me courage and I decided while crying (mom’s girl ㅠㅠ..) ---------------------------- Surgery - It was an evening surgery, so I went in at 7:30. As soon as the anesthesiology director put in the anesthetic, I had no memory after 3 seconds. When I woke up, it was 11, and my guardian was contacted around 10 saying the surgery had gone well. (I only had one cheekbone contouring procedure + liposuction + deep cheek fat removal, so I don’t know why it took so longㅜㅜ....)
Day 1 (right after surgery) - I remember being extremely cold as soon as I woke up from anesthesia. I think the nurse turned on a warm air heater and helped keep me warm. At first, while I was groggy, I remember being in pain, but after that it never hurt again.
Hospital room - The director came up and told me the surgery had gone well and that I had done a good job. At this point there was almost no swelling, but my nose kept bleeding ㅜ The nurse said it was good to keep walking, so I tried to walk right away, but I felt nauseous and couldn’t walk, so I just lay down and watched TV. I couldn’t drink water, so I was so, so thirsty. About 3 hours later, they brought me water and New Care. Even though I had barely eaten all day, I wasn’t hungry, only thirsty. After I came to my senses a bit, I walked a lot at dawn. (After some time passed, I didn’t feel nauseous and walked around energetically.) The swelling gradually increased, bloody sputum came out, and my nose bled every time I moved. In the hospital room, I think they gave me painkiller IV fluids a total of 2 times? Except for occasional throbbing, it really didn’t hurt at all, so I got sleepy while watching TV and slept. It wasn’t a long sleep, but I slept well, and I didn’t feel tired or anything. (I may just be suited to surgery; I also didn’t have pain after nose surgery before.)
Day 2 - Discharge I hadn’t eaten anything, so walking was tiring and I only walked 10,000 steps. I kept resting at home, and so far I still had nosebleeds, bloody sputum, and throat pain.
Day 3 - I slept with the humidifier far away, so maybe because it was dry, the next day my throat felt uncomfortable like a sore throat from a cold. Phlegm kept forming and my voice sounded like I had a cold, but it wasn’t painful. My nose barely bled, and bloody sputum kept coming out. (I personally didn’t even get sick during COVID.) In the evening, one eye suddenly started swelling first, so I was surprised, but when I woke up, the other side was swollen the same way. My lips became about 3 times bigger. My face was not fit for going to the neighborhood hair salon, so I washed my hair by myself at home.
Day 4 - The swelling hit its peak!! When I slept with the humidifier right next to me, my throat didn’t hurt in the morning. I had to keep drinking water for the phlegm to come out well! My voice also came back.
Days 5-7 - The swelling around my eyes started going down slowly. On day 6, the swelling suddenly went down and I went from super puffy to less puffy. From a circle to a skull shape?
Day 7 (sideburn stitch removal) - Stitch removal didn’t hurt at all, and they removed the bandage that had been wrapped around my face. I briefly saw the director. We checked the X-ray together. After receiving all the aftercare, I came out and looked in the mirror, 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 only one cheek was severely hollowed!!!!!! My anxiety spiral started and I came home looking like a cancer patient. When I checked again at home, it also seemed like it might be because of swelling, yeah. I’m gaslighting myself that it’s because I’m still very swollen. -------------------------- Summary for busy people! - Surgery didn’t hurt, I slept well, and I washed my hair twice at home - I applied warm/cold compresses often, but because it was annoying, I couldn’t walk that much - Swelling peaked on day 4 - It’s important to sleep with the humidifier super close and keep drinking water ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I lost about 4 kg because I couldn’t eat - I drank New Care, and because I couldn’t control my appetite, I kept eating ice cream...... (When I craved other foods, I ate soup, steamed egg, sweet potato, and castella) - On day 7, I saw cheek hollowing and cried like crazy because I was scared it might be a side effect
Questions I have after surgery - I know deep cheek fat removal requires an incision inside the mouth, but they said they removed it all through the holes used for liposuction. I don’t know if that’s possible....... If that was how it was going to be done, I wouldn’t have paid for deep cheek fat removal...?, so it felt like a sales tactic!!!!
Am I satisfied? - I was still debating surgery even until the director did the design, but I can see that the 45-degree cheekbones have gone in cleanly, so I like that - The angular-looking face and wide appearance are gone, so it feels like my face got smaller - But because only one cheek has severe hollowing, after taking off the bandage and coming home, I regretted having surgery for the first time (praying that the cheek hollowing is temporary.....) I think I’ll only know with time whether the liposuction was overdone or whether it really is swelling! The swelling is still remaining in a skull-like shape, so I can’t conclude whether it’s a gain or a loss. Whether I’ll become cucumber-shaped, how much sagging there will be, etc., I think I’ll only know once the swelling goes down ㅠㅠ Now it’s a battle with swelling!!
