Cheekbone Surgery Reviews

1-week and 2-week review of ㅅㅅㅇ square jaw surgery

A review of 1 week and 2 weeks after ㅅㅅㅇ square jaw surgery. After over a million worries, I decided on ㅅㅅㅇ and had surgery with Director Park Jong-rim ⚫️ Before surgery consultation ⚫️ It was a small clinic with a quiet atmosphere, and everyone on staff was kind. During the first consultation, the manager didn’t recommend anything else, calmly listened to everything I had to say first, and carefully got the key points. I was so tense because I went after not sleeping at all, and I was really sensitive, but the manager’s expression and tone were gentle, so I gradually relaxed. During the second consultation, I told Director Park Jong-rim all my concerns. I have a lower jaw that’s rotated to the left with a malocclusion and asymmetry, so I said I only wanted the left square jaw line refined, and I did not want my front face or chin to become slimmer or for my appearance from the front to change. He explained everything in detail while looking at the CT photos, and said that if he shaved off only a little of my square jaw, I would end up with a jawline that looked too angular, so he should barely cut the left angle at all and only file it down very slightly, then refine it more broadly with cortical osteotomy; if only the left side were done, the asymmetry wouldn’t improve, so the right side would need to be touched just enough to match the left. He listened to everything I said while making eye contact and took a long consultation time. He explained things in a casual way until I understood, smiling, and I felt reassured because he seemed to pursue the most natural result possible. When I was worrying about surgery, my family also worried that if anything was done to my face at all, it would look too angular, so I decided I should go ahead and have it done after all. ⚫️ Surgery day ⚫️ I was extremely nervous I normally have skin allergies and antibiotic allergies, and even when I had a stomach endoscopy under sedation anesthesia, I’m the type who wakes up late. Before entering the operating room, I had a separate consultation with the female anesthesiologist, asked everything I was curious about, and she explained everything well. An anesthesia nurse came in with us too, and after the surgery, they monitored me by connecting to the director’s phone, saying not to worry and reassuring me while smiling, so I felt at ease. The impression was good too. I also checked the surgery plan again with Director Park Jong-rim. He said the surgery was a bit more complicated than expected. Looking at the CT, he explained how the surgery would proceed and checked whether what I wanted was really the right approach. When I said I was worried about having a drainage bulb, he said it might not be needed depending on the bleeding control, and in the end I really didn’t have one. When I came to my senses, I was in the recovery room and it was very clean and comfortable. There was no pain at all, but phlegm and a runny nose came out, and breathing only became comfortable after a few hours. Even after being discharged without the pain IV, I’ve had absolutely no pain, which is surprising. The sensation in my face, jaw, and around my mouth is all still normal. Director Park came after surgery to check on me, and again as he was leaving work, reassuring me once more. The female anesthesiologist also came separately and said the surgery went well and that she was continuing to monitor me. The manager came too, and the nurses kept checking on me. Since the surgery was in the afternoon, I worried there might not be staff at night, but one overnight nurse kept coming in repeatedly through the night, changed my water bottle because I needed to drink water, and put a cold compress on my jaw. She kept checking on me until around 7 a.m. the next morning. Since I couldn’t sleep, I worked hard on cold compresses all night. In the morning, the director came, checked on me, and I was discharged with my guardian. I thought I could probably go home alone, but having a guardian come was safer. I couldn’t look down, so it was hard to see stairs or the ground. ⚫️ Week 1 ⚫️ Because my surgery was on the left side for asymmetry, the left side is very swollen. Still, I think the swelling has gone down a lot. There’s no blue bruising at all, only yellow bruising spreading. I’ve had no pain even once, and the sensation is still normal. ⚫️ Week 2 ⚫️ Luckily, I’m the type who doesn’t swell much, apparently. The yellow bruising has almost completely gone, so I can move around well. They say I should apply sunscreen well to my jaw and neck. Sleeping for two weeks propped up on a high pillow and cushion has made me feel tired all the time. For food, I’m making sure to eat a balanced range of nutrients. I’ve been eating pumpkin juice, bellflower root and pear juice, low-salt beef bone soup, porridge, apple-pear puree, unsweetened yogurt, soft tofu stew, soft tofu gratin, avocado, banana, soy milk, cheese, and tomato puree as my daily staples. Since I still can’t brush my teeth properly, my mouth tastes a bit bitter, and when I got bored of the food I started craving and eating chocolate and cheesecake when stressed. Because I go to the clinic once a week for care, I think the swelling will keep going down well. The neck under my jawline is also a bit swollen and the flesh feels a little hardened and clumped, so when I turn or lift my head it still feels tight. It doesn’t hurt, but it is a bit uncomfortable. Still, I really think it was the right decision to have the surgery. I’ll post another update.
