I had already had nose surgery three times up until now, and this was my fourth revision surgery I was really exhausted mentally too, and I don’t know if it was because of the surgery I had at the previous plastic surgery clinic in Busan, but I developed contracture. So I got fat-derived stem cell injections a few times at a place in Seoul famous for contracted noses, and even after having revision surgery with autologous costal cartilage + AlloDerm, my nose was still upturned and that abnormal-looking nose feeling didn’t improve. So I started looking again, mainly for hospitals specializing in revision surgery for contracted noses using full costal cartilage, and after seeing reviews of RU Plastic Surgery, I booked a consultation.
Rather than prioritizing a high and glamorous nose like the reviews and YouTube videos I had seen, I liked Director Kim Hyun-joo’s mindset and aesthetic sense of prioritizing naturalness so the nose doesn’t look detached from the face. She said the nose could be made somewhat larger and higher, but since the nasolabial area beside my nose was quite sunken, getting paranasal implants would give a much greater expected effect. And since I had also been concerned about my nasolabial folds, I trusted the director’s aesthetic sense and went ahead with it, and now I’m completely satisfied.
It has now been about a month since my revision rhinoplasty with autologous costal cartilage, and maybe because she has harvested a lot of costal cartilage and works quickly, the pain from the rib cartilage harvest was less than at my previous hospital! Still, days 2–3 do hurt
The current shape is exactly the degree of columellar projection I wanted, and overall the nose has more volume, so I think it looks natural. And the nasal bridge was done with sliced autologous costal cartilage. It is defined like silicone, but since it’s my own material, I feel more at ease, and there’s no show-through, so I think that’s even better.
During weeks 1–2 it looked a bit big, so I was worried, but within a month the major swelling went down, and I definitely like it. I think this has become my final revision surgery.
