There weren’t any reviews of Kara Plastic Surgery (because they don’t do review events..), so this is a review I’m writing myself. I’m just writing everything from clinic-hunting up to now, so this may be long!
■ About my eyes - Slight hidden double eyelids, protruding eyes, little fat, slight epicanthal fold on the left eye / I didn’t know this either, but found out while going to consultations! - Desired style: inner to in-out line, natural
■ Why did I do it? My eyes are the type where I get double eyelids with mascara when I do makeup, and I wasn’t very dissatisfied, so I spent my 20s doing makeup like that. Then suddenly, in my 30s.. I thought makeup was annoying and it would be nice to have double eyelids even with a bare face. I kept debating because I didn’t want my image to change, then decided to just do it during the winter downtime period.
■ Consultation/clinic-hunting list + a few short consultation reviews + Kara consultation review I went to consultations at a total of 10 places. At first, I was going to go to only 1 famous place and decide, but I felt uneasy, so I went to a second and third place, and because every doctor had different opinions, I ended up going to 10... places. If there are too many, you can get decision paralysis, so I think going to at least 3-4 places is enough.. haha Since I didn’t get surgery at the other clinics, I’ll just write an overall consultation review. Depending on the clinic, some recommended anterior/upper canthoplasty, ptosis correction, and even under-eye fat repositioning as a set, while others recommended only canthoplasty or only ptosis correction, etc., and they were all different. But as you gradually go around to clinics, you get a sense of what you need to do, so if you don’t know your eyes well or don’t know what you should do, I recommend going to many places! Anyway, there were 4 places that said to just do natural adhesion (buried suture, same thing basically), 1 place recommended incision, 2 places recommended canthoplasty, 2 places recommended ptosis correction, and 1 place recommended the full set. This was my first surgery, and I was also scared by reviews of canthoplasty/ptosis correction, so I decided to do only buried suture. + The places that suggested ptosis correction or canthoplasty all gave reasons I could understand, so it didn’t feel like upselling (line symmetry, fixing it so it won’t loosen, etc..) And only early in my consultations, when I didn’t know much information, there were clinics that pressured me for a deposit. Maybe because after I looked up a lot in this community and said when going to consultations that I still had many more left(?), after that there were no clinics that pressured me for a deposit at all, and all the clinics were kind..!
---- I found out about Kara while searching in a community and hurriedly booked a consultation. As in the reviews, it felt like going to a pediatric clinic hahaha They were very kind, and I felt that sense of trust that comes from long experience. But since the doctor is older, it’s true that I kept worrying about aesthetic sense.. Maybe I was more drawn to it because they told me absolutely not to do ptosis correction or canthoplasty (the director seems to just not recommend them to anyone..) The consultation itself had a very comfortable atmosphere, no deposit pressure, and although it was expensive, it was fixed-price.. Review event? There’s none of that. They made 3 lines for me, and all of them were okay. They said the director no longer does incisional surgery, so if someone’s eyes need incision, they tell them to go to another clinic. They told me my eyes could do buried suture and congratulated me, so during the consultation I went “Wow!” and clapped.. haha
■ How did I choose? First, I organized everything in Excel and compared the 10 places (the year the director became a specialist, surgical method, consultation date, price, content, service, consultant, impressions, etc.) Then I ranked them, narrowed it down to 3 places, and for those 3, I gathered review-photo apps, this community, Googling, etc., and also added the directors’ profile photos so I could organize everything at a glance. You can’t judge by kindness or the director’s appearance (not whether they’re handsome, but just the trustworthiness I felt from the photo and my memory), but still, when you gather everything together, somehow. You get a feeling.. The keywords for the 3-way race clinics were ① young with a good aesthetic sense ② professional and specialized in revision eye surgery ③ Kara I debated all 3 until the very end, but I decided to trust this inexplicable.. pull, so I chose Kara! I really agonized over it... haha
■ Surgery process - Anesthesia: This place uses local anesthesia, so since people are probably most curious about that, I’ll write mainly about it. I’m seriously a scaredy-cat so I was afraid, but it was more bearable than I expected, to the point where I didn’t understand why other clinics do sedation anesthesia.. They anesthetized 3 shots outside the eye + flipped the eye and 1 shot inside. Before the anesthesia, they kept explaining things to me, and said that if I relaxed, the medicine would go in better and bruising would be less likely, so I tried to relax as much as possible while getting it. It stung, but the pain was similar to a vaccination, and the shot inside the eye hurt a little more, but really only for 1-2 seconds..? I don’t know if it didn’t hurt much because they’re good at injections or what, but local anesthesia was bearable! After that, once it was numb, it didn’t hurt at all.
- Design: After changing into surgical clothes, the design was done while sitting. They held up an inner line, a thin in-out line, a larger in-out line, and even an out-line, and told me what suited me. Both I and the director agreed that going with a larger in-out line would be good, then they drew it and took photos (the director took them directly and said they don’t take post-op photos haha) In the operating room, I lay down and we did the final check of the design, and then the surgery started.
- Surgery atmosphere: The director kept saying things like, “Now there will be a cauterizing sound, don’t be startled,” “I’m doing this now,” “The thread is passing through, swoosh-swoosh..” so I felt at ease. They asked me to open my eyes and even praised me, saying I opened them well haha Overall, they treated me gently, like handling a child, so it didn’t feel scary and I liked that.
■ The long-awaited surgery review I had surgery this Monday, so it’s only day 4, and I think I’ll know once the swelling goes down, so I’ll just upload photos. I’ll come back again when it’s been one month. The photos from the top are: surgery day, evening of surgery day (bruised Maybe because my skin is thin; I tend to bruise easily anyway), next day, day 3 after removing stitches. Today, day 4, is almost the same as day 3, but the line is definitely gradually coming down, and opening my eyes has gotten a bit better too. For now I’m satisfied, and sometimes I wonder, “Should I have made it higher, considering the swelling will go down?” but since I wanted it to look natural, I think it’s good. And here, even though it’s buried suture, they tie knots at the end of the line, so on day 3 you have to go back to check progress and remove them. The director said I didn’t need to take walks or drink swelling tea, and that just doing ice compresses was enough, so that’s what I did. Oh, and I didn’t ask about this, but.. after looking it up, it seems like the fixation here is weaker than other places. Maybe there are fewer holes.. I’m not exactly sure.! But for now, I recommend at least getting a consultation! There weren’t any Kara reviews, so I remember how I worried anxiously until before the surgery.. I hope my post helps!
