I had surgery in 2021 after consultations at three places, and everywhere I went, they said my eyelids had thick upper eyelid tissue itself (not an issue with eye fat), so I couldn’t make a large double eyelid. One of those places recommended doing a forehead lift together so I wouldn’t end up with sausage eyes, but I was too young at the time to have such a big surgery, so I passed. One place said to do it by incision with a low line. This place said it would be possible with the buried-suture method if the line was set low. However, they said I absolutely shouldn’t be greedy, and that as I passed age 25, the eyelid tissue would also get thinner, so I should do it with a revision surgery in mind around then to set the line a bit bigger. I just felt that I’d be fine as long as my eyes got bigger than they were then, and rather than suddenly recommending a forehead lift, it felt like they were thinking about my future, so I said okay and decided.
From how it felt, the surgery was over in about 20 minutes. The result was very natural, to the point that no one could tell I had double eyelid surgery. But if you think about it, that’s obvious because it wasn’t even really an inline level; it ended up being a level where only almost the very end of the line was visible. Of course it had to look natural. And from the 4th year, I do think the line got a bit lower. Now it’s my 5th year, and this is exactly the timing the doctor mentioned, so I’m slowly thinking about doing it again. I’d be willing to do it again with the same doctor here, and I’m also planning to look into it more. I recommend it! It’s a place where there’s absolutely no chance of ending up ruined with sausage eyes.
And!! When all my friends around me had sedation anesthesia, I was the only one who did it with local anesthesia, so I was really worried, but when they anesthetized me, it really did. not. hurt. at all. It was almost fascinating. Even during the consultation, when I asked if I couldn’t do it under sedation, the doctor said why would you use sedation for such a small surgery, it won’t hurt at all so don’t worry.
