I’m in my mid-30s. Because of my hooked nose, drooping nasal tip, and nose that looked long compared to my face, people had told me since I was young that my impression looked dark and gloomy, so it was a really big complex for me. (Like Squidward from SpongeBob) Until my 20s, I went to a lot of consultations, but I could never readily decide to go through with surgery because of the side-effect cases that kept happening to acquaintances around me, the repeated and similar consultations from consultants who suggested excessive implant insertion that didn’t match my thoughts while saying, “A drooping nasal tip will eventually need revision surgery, so you should make it dramatic from the beginning,” and even trauma from a surgery I had at a university hospital (not cosmetic surgery, but surgery for a personal illness). More than anything, what I wanted was not a dramatic change, but to smooth out the uneven line, and above all, safety. But it was hard to find a hospital that met those standards. Before getting married, I decided to get a proper consultation with the mindset that this would truly be my last time, and that was how I found this plastic surgery clinic. To start with the conclusion, as soon as I had the consultation, I thought, “This is the place.”
The consultation with the consultant was really different from the start. She guided me calmly and warmly, which helped me relax a lot, and I felt a lot of trust when she told me to look into other hospitals thoroughly before deciding, rather than immediately recommending surgery. It felt like a consultation that genuinely considered things from the patient’s perspective, beyond simple customer service.
The consultation with the director was also impressive. Unlike other hospitals that emphasized dramatic results through simulations, he explained my nasal structure, the principles of the surgery, and the process one by one with visual materials, so a lot of my vague anxiety disappeared. It was exactly the right kind of consultation for me, since I considered and wondered more about “how safe it is” than “how much prettier I’ll become.”
Right after the surgery, the director personally took photos and showed them to me. Since I had been prioritizing safety above all else, I honestly hadn’t expected much in terms of a dramatically aesthetic result, so it felt like receiving an unexpected gift. I felt that the director also had a truly excellent aesthetic sense, and he created a design much better than the ideal design I had imagined, with what people these days often call a natural yet dramatic look. It has only been 1 month, but the swelling has almost completely gone down, and I’m already very satisfied with the aesthetic aspect.
The surgical process I was really worried about was also much less difficult than I expected, and even immediately after surgery, there was almost no swelling or bruising, so the recovery process was not much of a burden either. It makes me wonder why I waited until now after worrying about it for over 10 years.
In the end, I keep thinking how nice it would have been if I had found this place a little sooner, and if I had been a little braver. Overall, I’m really satisfied. I’m so grateful to the consultant and director for helping an indecisive and fearful person like me decide to go through with surgery.
For people like me who have a lot of fear about surgery and prioritize naturalness and safety above all else, I truly and sincerely want to recommend it.
