[Reason for rhinoplasty] Honestly, my nose wasn’t an unattractive nose, and even when I went to consultations, I often heard doctors say, “I don’t think you necessarily need to do it.” Still, whenever I took photos, I always felt disappointed with my nose. I had a nasal bridge, but my nasal tip was low, so overall it didn’t look high, and because my columella was short, my nose had a short-looking feel from the front. So after thinking about it for a long time, I felt that this time I really should do it, and decided to have rhinoplasty.
[Reason for choosing the hospital] I found out about the plastic surgery clinic while watching rhinoplasty review vlogs on YouTube. One YouTuber’s result was so pretty that I looked up reviews of the hospital, and all the review photos matched my taste, so I booked a consultation. During the consultation, the consultant was really kind, and that also had a big influence on my decision to book. I also felt that my aesthetic sense matched well with the director’s, so I ultimately proceeded with the rhinoplasty.
[Rhinoplasty plan details] My nose was deviated, so I had correction of a deviated septum, and autologous costal cartilage (rib cartilage) was used for the nasal tip, while silicone was used for the nasal bridge. I also had bulbous nose correction, short nose correction, columella lowering, and two rhinitis-related functional procedures, including deviated septum correction and inferior turbinate hypertrophy surgery.
[Recovery process] On the day of surgery, my eyes hurt much more than my nose or ribs. My eyes were bloodshot and kept tearing so much that I wondered if I should go to the emergency room, but when I contacted the consultant at dawn, even though it was late, she checked quickly, so I felt relieved. The next day at the hospital, while they removed the cotton inside my nose, I also mentioned my eye condition, and they said there was a possibility that my eyeball had been scratched because the operating room was dry. Following their instructions, I used eye ointment and artificial tears, and fortunately my eyes were okay from the next day.
[2-week review after functional rhinoplasty] It has now been a little over 2 weeks since my functional rhinoplasty. There is still some pain around the rib area, but it has improved a lot compared with the beginning, and a lot of the nasal swelling has gone down too. Seeing it after the swelling went down, my retracted columella was clearly improved, and even though my nose became higher, it settled naturally, so I even thought, “Should I have made it a little more dramatic?” However, if it had been more dramatic, I think it might have felt out of place on me, so in the end I feel like it turned out harmoniously and suits my face well. Also, regarding the part where my nose looks deviated, the director explained that because the axis of my face itself is deviated, it can’t be helped to some extent, so that part is a little disappointing, but aside from that, I’m satisfied overall!
