Hello everyone! I had 3-part facial contouring surgery (cheekbones, square jaw, chin tip) + implant-free rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage on April 22, 2025, and I am currently **about 8 months post-op (258 days)**.
Before surgery, my overall face shape looked wide and my cheekbones stood out, so every time I took photos, I would cover my face with my hand or edit them a lot. My chin tip was also slightly retruded, so I was concerned that my lower face looked long and my impression looked strong. My nose was not low, but because of a dorsal hump and drooping nasal tip, the line was not smooth, so I was always dissatisfied with my side profile.
I went to consultations at several clinics, and the fact that this was a facial-contouring specialist clinic + a one-doctor clinic was the biggest factor in my decision. During the consultation, the director explained my facial structure and even the location of the nerve line, and instead of pushing excessive procedures, he pointed out only the parts that were necessary for my face, so I trusted him. What stood out to me was that he explained my chin was not protruding but slightly retruded, so a small advancement would suit me better than aggressively shaving it down.
Honestly, there were some difficult parts right after surgery. Because of the nature of facial contouring, swelling tends to last a long time, and for the first month or two my face looked dull and it was uncomfortable to open my mouth. The tightness around my cheekbones lasted longer than I expected, and I was careful with hard foods for quite a long time. For my nose, since autologous costal cartilage was used, the nasal tip felt firm in the beginning, but it naturally softened over time.
From around 3 to 4 months, the lines slowly started to show, and now, at 8 months post-op, most of the swelling is gone and everything feels stable overall. My cheekbones have been reduced inward, so the frontal width of my face has decreased, and my lower face looks shorter, making my overall impression much softer. The chin tip also connects naturally without looking excessive, so I am satisfied with my side line.
For my nose, I had implant-free rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage, and it feels very natural because there is no foreign-body sensation and the line does not stand out. From the front, the nasal tip angle is nicely defined, and from the side, I like the smooth line without a dorsal hump the most!! It has settled perfectly now, so I am very satisfied.
Personally, I think doing facial contouring and nose surgery together was the best decision haha Since both the outer contour and the center of my face were refined together, the overall proportions look much more balanced, and I hear “your face looks refined” much more often than “you had plastic surgery.”
The recovery process was not exactly easy, but looking at the results now, it was definitely worth enduring, and my satisfaction level is quite high. I hope this can be helpful for people who, like me, are considering both their face shape and nose.
