Cheekbone Surgery Reviews

Yang Yoon-dong Oral and Maxillofacial / Chin Advancement Surgery / 1 Month Post-op

I had always had a complex because my chin was on the retruded side. At some point, I became so conscious of it that when I looked at someone’s face, I noticed their chin first. After worrying about it like that, I made up my mind that I definitely wanted to get surgery for a retruded chin someday. After looking through many reviews, I ended up having surgery at Yang Yoon-dol Hospital, which had the most reviews in the online community. The director said my retruded chin was not severe and suggested advancing it by about 6 mm. However, since I am in my mid-40s, he also honestly explained in advance that because of reduced elasticity, sagging around the chin after surgery might need to be managed later. On the day of surgery, after anesthesia, I woke up and the surgery was already over. After receiving my prescribed medication, I took the train home by myself. On the first night, I had a little mild pain, but after that there was no major discomfort. Because I work from home, I started working right away from the second day after surgery, and since I had to keep taking antibiotics regularly, I ate porridge three meals a day. From the fourth day, I still could not open my mouth well, but I could not overcome my appetite, so I started cutting foods like chicken into small pieces and eating a little at a time. As I had seen in many other people’s reviews, from the third day the swelling suddenly increased, and my face started looking like Thanos. I tried to steady myself by thinking, “This is a process everyone goes through,” but I still got worried every time I looked in the mirror. Fortunately, I could see the swelling going down slightly day by day, so I tried to stay as relaxed as possible. After the stitches were removed in week 2, the swelling decreased noticeably. However, because the tip of my chin felt stiff and bunched up, pronouncing “eu” and “ee” sounds was especially difficult. I also felt that my facial expression became awkward when I spoke. Now I am one month post-op, and it has become much more natural than in the beginning, and pronunciation has become a little easier too. I’ll keep practicing my mouth movements consistently and do warm compresses often.
