It was for reconstructive purposes, so we decided to do the surgery in three stages. I had it in June and it improved. I think the final surgery will be around April or May. My body and mind had been ruined by severe contracture and multiple failed reconstructions, but this time it’s holding up well without inflammation. Ironically, all three times I used autologous costal cartilage, I developed inflammation, but now that I used donated costal cartilage, there’s no inflammation. They said people whose autologous costal cartilage tends to undergo calcification can develop inflammation, so I guess that may be me. I’m going to suggest using donated costal cartilage for the third surgery too.
